Chris would have only rarely got the chance to 'lie', since as I remember, we didn't [ihave[/i things like forums back then, and as Adey rightly says Chris, a solicitor remember, a profession where the accurate use of words is important, is far too astute to be caught doing that in press interviews where the statements will be pretty much carefully crafted beforehand.
Incidentally, I do feel too many are throwing words like 'lie' around far too often. For certain we have been told many things were going to happen which subsequently didn't, but misjudgements, hopes and best guesses are not lies; a lie is a [ideliberate[/i falsehood not a mistaken prognosis made in the belief that something was true.
