Burgess is out of contract at the end of the season, with three of his brothers located in Aus, and the press publishing quotes from him saying he'd be interested in going, it doesn't take much to suggest that even if we suddenly got a big lottery win he'd stay with us. He'll be in Aus next season, you can pretty much guarantee it.

The only thing that could possibly keep him in the UK is that bird off Corrie who he's seen a couple of times. Doubt she's got that much influence on him at the minute to pursuade him not to go live in Sydney.......

The only way I could see Bateman going before any type of administration would be someone like Huddersfield wanting (and having the money) to make us an offer now that we would accept to allow them a headstart on all the clubs who might be interested but reluctant to pay a big fee in a transfer war.

For example, I'm sure a lot of teams wouldn't mind Bateman and could find ways of paying him £x that would be matched by other clubs - eg, someone like Leeds may be able to pay Bateman the same as Wire and Hudds, but probably wouldn't be interested in paying £200k (as an example) for him that Wire and Hudds probably would pay up front to secure his services.

If you know that for a fact and not an assumption, then we should accept it. Sad though it would be to lose him, the survival of the club is all that matters.

I can't remember if the figure was definitely 300k but Hood has publicly stated that there is a written offer from Wire on the table.. or certainly was.

Just because they were willing to pay that sum back then doesn't mean they'll pay it when we are on the cusp of Administration.

All I remember seeing in print was that offer was six figures from Wire.
