The fact Cas lost Lynch, Hudson etc showed up one of the the biggest problems with P & R and it is little wonder that teams in threat of relgation used to fill their teams with kolpak stiffs rather than give young players a chance knowing full well should they get relegated they would lose those same youngsters for nothing.

Bateman going would be a big loss to us, but I'd be more concerned if the likes of, Whitehead, Burgess, Koppy went as well....not to mention,Addy, O'brian, Donaldson ect...these young players are (hopefully) the future of Bradford.

I dont get this hype around Addy if anyone is offering money for him i would accept immeadiatley. Watching him play hooker since Diskin has gone this time when we have o brien waiting has shown me he is not as clever or classy as people think. His pass from the floor is poor, he passes forward, keeps going for scoots when it is not on and attempts 40/20's like he is andrew johns.
Only relief for me is that we have whitehead, olbison, donaldson who could share some of burden of losing him as a fans favourite but it would be dissapointing to lose bateman at this stage although i think most have been expecting this since news of troubles came through. Tell John to sign no more than a three year deal and a big deal will be waiting when we have sorted ourselves out although he would prob trust the word as much as we do from bod.

Awful situation. I spoke to John at Quins away last season and he was just about as passionate about the Bulls as you can get. I think if it was a realistic option for him to stay he would, but ATEOTD he is one of the hottest young prospects in the game and a career in RL is only short.

Oh I agree. I was pointing out some possible double standards, but also that it is possible to lose your 4 best players (arguably), suffer relegation & still bounce back.
