Quote: jools "Im sorry but on that joke pitch it was hardly going to be a classic. Plenty of style on show last weekend and the weekend before... And befor...in better conditions- be thankful it wasn't dry. As for the injuries -it's a cliche but you can only beat what's in front of you-as Wigan found out first game of the season when we had one fully fit experienced prop available going up against the likes of hock (who according to the great seer Garry schofield is the best player in superleague) the pitch/weather conditions were in your favour but at no time in the second half did I feel worried.'"
The pitch was in no ones 'favour'; it was uniformly awful, a total lottery in fact and, as I've posted elsewhere, it was the worst I've seen it for over thirty years, but in the weather we've had over the last fortnight it shouldn't have been unexpected. FWIW I thought Hudds mastered the conditions better than we did, and scored one try as a result of our defenders losing their footing. To repeat myself again the Giants deserved their win in a game where the real contest was in the forwards but only one side dominated in the halves and therefore were the only team who really looked like scoring.
It was dry last year though, IIRC.....
