Quote: jpk3lly "Lets be honest, worst case scenario is that current team goes bust and club starts new plc called something like bulls2012 and Bradford Bulls play in Championship 1 next year. Most likely with a 3 - 4 times the attendance than any other club in the division, get promotion in the first year and compete in Championship in 2014 and probably be front runner for Super League license in 2015 application process.
You can get rid of some of those second rate players on big wages that you seem to have accumulated over the last 4 - 5 years and bring more youngsters through.
And if you think about it, that's probably a good outcome for Bradford as you can start again with new administration and no debt and a good outcome for the other clubs in championship 1 as they would benefit from big gates when they have home fixtures against you and regardless of going bust or not, Bradford Bulls are always going to be a big name club.'"
Hmmm... We go under and I'd imagine that all contracts are void, therefore I'd imagine that all the top youngsters would be picked up by SL clubs or even top championship clubs.
Would the club be able to survive in the C1 without the SL TV money? Would we be able to bring youngsters full and keep the players full time? Would we be able to afford Odsal? Financially I can't see reforming and playing in C1 as being a positive in any way!
Are the RFL likely to give a license to a club that goes under mid season and makes the game a laughing stock? I can't see it.
I'm not sure as a club we can rely on being a big name either - how many other clubs used to be classed as big but aren't anymore? When my Mum started watching the games Hunslet were classed as a big name and Halifax good team but have failed to recover on the pitch from their financial troubles. If it was promotion and relegation the club would have a chance of bouncing back quickly, but with franchising I think it would five years before we'd have the chance of another crack at SL. Unfortunately people have short memories.
I keep coming back to the thought of what the RFL would do with Odsal without the Bulls however...
