Quote: Cibaman "I agree about Thompson, but wouldnt have Mills over Fielden. Mills was ok for us but his career really blossomed later, as did his hard man image. In fact when he first joined us he was criticised for being "a bit soft"!
I really liked Bill Ramsay. Great handling ability. Not sure who he would replace though.'"
Jim was known to frequent the Kings Head on Halifax Rd when he was at Bradford, the then landlord was Harry Womersley who was Northern chairman and one time chair of the RFL. One night in the lounge, (this is Jim, not Harry) he put his pint on a shelf with some others and then leant on the shelf with his considerable shoulder, which brought the shelf off the wall. The shelf, btw was bolted right through the wall. He was a big lad was Jim Mills and I can guarantee no-one in the 'Head' ever called him soft!
I agree his best years were later at Widnes, though.
