Can't say I agree with that position any more than I'd accept casual racism or sexism; just because there is no malice behind a comment doesn't make it acceptable.

I've previously responded on Twitter to Michael Platt's use of "gay" in the derogatory ("gay weather"), lazy homophobia sadly isn't limited to RL players. That doesn't make it any more acceptable though, and like others in the public eye, players have a responsibility not to legitimise discrimination.

BTW I'm trying to make a general point rather than argue the specifics of the article contents here.

I think we're all missing the real issue here - the fact that this newspaper (magazine?) features topless photos of innocent rugby players. I mean, are we still in the 1970's here for God's sake? These homosexual chaps need to realise that it's 2011 and treating rugby players like sex objects is just not on.

We should be praising Elliot for being a crusader against such outdated nonsense. He, like me, was just disappointed that Stuart Reardon has allowed himself to used as a sex object by the readers of this rag.

Well I have heard the club are taking steps and that Whitehead will be making amends through volunteer work.

Apparently they've got him working in the packing department for a large confectioners. He'll be working to make sure that the fudge is placed in the shipping boxes correctly.

They're also having him help out with a local music charity. He'll be teaching under-privileged kids to play the pink oboe.

After that he'll be working in a 2 story clothing warehouse taking shirts up to the 2nd floor.

Oh, I am p1ssing myself with laughter.
