Quote BullmanDan="BullmanDan"Anyone else noticed the poor attack and defence structures that Potter has instilled? Its no wonder we cannot open opposition defence when we stand a foot in front of them, look at the likes of Warrington and Wigan, they give themselves loads of room whereas we build a platform with the forwards then when we attempt to unlock the backs our halfs put the wrong pass on, giving it to who should be the dummy runner! Awful, defence is dire, they don't know whether to push up, umbrella or slide etc, all over the place and we never saw Saints with no room to move and defence line doing different things... Sort it out Potter, oh and Hood, quota space available, so is Morrison! Get him signed to play and coach as you should have done with Menzies, Potter will be gone at the end of 2012, what then, what's the long term financial and recruitment plans?!'"
Our attack and defence was the same under McNamara, the only difference was that in 2006 and 2007 we looked better because we still had some quality players.
We have such a flat attack to try to ensure we have support players nearer to any potential break. I'm not convinced by it either. As for the defence I think our problems there are down to attitude. The mistakes creep in too easily, the players stop talking and start doing their own thing leading to gaps appearing. That's down to heads dropping at the slightest thing like an error or a penalty.
I wonder why confidence has got so low, and what the plans are to re-build it. Hard work is needed but players have to be prepared to do it, I'm not convinced many of the current squad have the work ethic required.
