I'm pretty sure the point was that putting alot of effort and/or doing it for free is no defense for not being very good or make you immune to criticism. Which I would agree with.

I find answering criticism of the club/players with "do you think you could do any better" to also be an empty defense. The answer would reasonably be "maybe not but its not my job". Its the same line you take with all kinds of professionals otherwise you'd never hold any of them to account. Would you say "Its alright Mr Mechanic for messing up my car because, you know what I couldn't have done it either" - no you wouldn't.

Having said all that, given where we've got with the pledge, Mr Bennett has clearly done a good job again and should be getting some credit for it as should the club. Once again we have a good deal and can only hope the players decide to step up to the plate this time.

Your first point - nothing wrong with that as far as it goes. After all, no-one forced AB to take on that job, regardless of how good or otehrwise he is at what he does. And indeed, I criticised AB earlier for arguing with his customers, as you saw. More at issue I suggest was GB taking it to excess, appearing to be pursuing his own personal seemingly obsessive agenda against Hood and the club's marketing generally?

Your second point - the difference is you are PAYING the mechanic to fix your car (and not mess it up), so you rightly expect a decent job. If instead it was a mate or rellie doing it for free, maybe because you felt you could not afford a professional mechanic, and he messed it up, would you seek to hold him to account in quite the same way? Because that is a better analogy, I suggest?

Your third point is surely something that NO-ONE can take issue with?

No I wouldn't hold him to account in the same way but he wouldn't be getting the job again and I'd still be telling him he was useless!

The second point has been hanging around in my head ever since Andy Lynch's interview where he said we couldn't complain as we didn't understand what it was like playing Superleague. Its more that kind of comment that it refers to.

Obsessed, much?? Had you not got embroiled in Ewen's point (who is perfectly capable of a repost himself) then you would have zero need to keep rattling on. This board doesn't need you as Archangel Adey.

Not to mention that you continually miss the point about AB, or rather you choose to ignore it. Standard. Whether he took it on free, paid or under any other terms is absolutely irrelevant, given that we are clearly debating his ability, or otherwise, to do the job. But your continual defence and your self appointed, message board Chancellor of the Bulls role, precludes you from having any clarity on the situation, that is clear. As is, your 300-esque flag waving of all things Bulls, largely in the false hope you will recognised for your unwavering loyalty.

Cue an apoplectic keyboard smashing from Cinderella "we can conclude this, that, the other".
