I just read the news that the clubs from the National Conference League have voted 28-10 in favour for playing summer rugby in a proposed new league by the RFL. I know this is not Bradford Bulls topic but I am intrigued to see how everyone feels about this proposed change?

Do you feel it will better promote and enhance our game? Or do some of you feel this change is not needed?

I know a lot of people moan at the RFL (myself included) but you certainly have to give it to them, they are not scared at looking to try new things in order to promote the game...

Quote: beefy1 "I've heard today that Bowling have somewhere else lined up? Don't know if it's right or not, but at the NCL meeting last night they said that the RFL have a pot of money that goes into seven figures to help teams that need assistance with facilities.'"

We do have Emsleys wreck down near Mayo Ave, but obviously need a club house etc, but thats good news wasn't aware of this if true.

its brilliant news, once the whole thing under conference goes too it will be better for the sport from under 8's through to super league. I wonder how many kids stop playing because they are small and stuck out on the wing in the freezing cold. Also i reckon that on better grounds bigger lads who are quick qont get thrown in to play prop and maybe start producing some outside backs for the england team. All in all i cant wait

I hope the Pennine League will follow suit!

Have to agree with most of what everyone is saying...I do think it will perhaps bring more revenue in to the clubs in the form of beer and bbqs etc. If juniors would also move to summer rugby that may indeed encourage more kids to play.

However, I have to worry about how the RFL would support teams who cannot play summer rugby due to other sports teams also using the ground facilities - will it be a case of either finding a new club site or getting left behind for the sake of change?

A major problem for amateur teams playing summer rugby is that summer pitches can be as hard as the frozen pitches in the winter months.
