We can blame match officials all day long but the reality for me is that once again we dont have the killer instinct to put the game to bed. Why Andy Lynch is passing silly offloads when we need to retain possession is any ones guess. We need to develop a match winning culture because as things stand now its one disappointment after another.

We lost because we went away from the game plan and started giving penalties away and making daft errors. For 60mins we looked comfortable. Once we let Leeds get a roll on we lost our composure.

The breath of fresh air for me was seeing a natural stand off organising bossing and throwing passes around! Been a long time since we have seen that and hopefully Sundays game was something to build on. The big let down for me was Lynch trying to force passes, he is usually mr reliable and also Scruton was not up to his standards yesterday! Massive plus from Whitehead though hopefully more of that from him this year!!!

It seemed to me that we tired significantly in the last 20 mins and that contributed to the mistakes and penalties. For the first competitive game of the season on a full size pitch, in an energy sapping environment, we put in a very big effort early in the game. Our kick chase was the best I've seen for years.

But we paid a price for that and the two injuries later in the game. It became a case of ever decreasing circles, tiredness causing mistakes which led to us losing possesion, which led us becoming more tired, which led...

Could not have put it any better.

Had it not been for that, whatever the officials did or did not do would almost certainly not have affected the result.

So everyone keeps saying. So what? He can reclaim the ball by knocking it forward then?

Shows how much it's a 17 man game nowadays and also how much work Langley gets through. That said the penalties given away by Sibbit were when he was fresh on the field, so no excuses for that.

I know it looks like the winger is out of position but when the sliding defence doesn't slide it always does. It's still a collective error though.

Your guys played well, but ran out of steam and the Rhinos got the benefit of the video ref. If this had been a normal non-tv game, you'd be 2 league pts better off now.

For what it's worth as a neutrel...I wouldn't have given a penalty try, only on the basis that I've seen much more clear cut examples when the player has had ball in hand...over the line etc...not given!! Hence on that basis only....for me a penalty YES, a penalty try NO!

I think most of the players should be happy with the performance and take that into the next game. It was unlucky for us that we picked up a couple of injuries and had to finish light on players, but such is life. It has to be said that Leeds deserve credit for not giving up.

Reading both this thread and others and then threads on the Rhinos board it does seem odd that people are focusing so much on the penalty try (which was a clear decision) and Walker's try (which I think was a try but can see why it wasnt given) when the real big big decision that I really cannot understand is how Leuluai's try was given. Buderus was clearly offside and the try was handed to the video referee, but it wasnt looked at.

There are plenty of positives to take out of the game and hopefully next week we will give Wigan a good run for their money. Let's hope for a big crowd and a big game from all the players! As gutted as I am about not winning yesterday, I don't mind because We have 2 more chances this season to shut the Rhinos up and prove we were not ahead 28-10 for nothing!
