My real alias? What's your real alias? Not that I should have to explain myself to anyone on an anonymous internet forum but I very rarely post on here mainly because I very rarely feel the desire to. I read posts with interest and was engaged enough by this thread to contribute.
I could easily turn your question back on you to read: 'What are McDermott's undeniable positive abilities? Losing multiple games.' But that would just be futile.
If you really need me to point things out to you. He was an accomplished player and two-time Dally M Medallist, served a solid coaching apprenticeship under Matty Elliott, has coached at both junior and senior levels and has a reasonable track record of aiding young players' development, improved an upstart Catalans Dragons side enough to take them to a Challenge Cup final and a top-three finish (heights they have failed to come close to since) and reached two Grand Finals with Saints.
Yes, he lost both of those finals and that is an obvious blot on his copybook. But just as Potter has his faults, so does McDermott, something you seem to forget at times.
