Really hope we dont sign Obst, he's not a bad player but he wouldnt turn us into any sort of contender.

tbh there isnt any one single player we can sign who will turn us into a contender. Even with the general improvement in the squad this off season we're 2 or 3 top signings away form being serious contenders for league silverware (cups an entirely different ballgame mind).

Got to agree would be disapointed if only half we signed was obst. If it was him and someone with genuine quality to partner him it might look different but would depend entirely on the pairing.

Obst would be a good player to have if we already had a quality 6 and were sure of orford at 7, he can cover both and 9 and always puts a good shift in. A game winner he is not, but he is a good squad player.

Whilst I don't think this is true, I understand that Thurston is on the verge of being stood down by North Queensland. I'm sure that they would hold on to his NRL registration - leaving him with the option of Super League or Union. The only Union in Aus side with the money to afford him have spent a fortune on Danny Cipriani to play in his position so that will be a no go.

I imagine that it wouldn't take any more than Orford's wage to secure him if he couldn't play in Aus for two years.
