A year or so ago when Cummings was a guest on the Real Radio phone in, I put pretty much exactly that question to him, and he answered it. Obviously they know what you are going to ask before you go on air, so he could have ducked it if he had wanted, but fair play, he didn't.

The answer was that he sent Bradley off because he saw blood and thought it confirmed his impression that a bad illegal challenge causing injury had taken place. He did not dispute that the decision was wrong, but called it as he saw it. As a supplementary I asked if he and Bradley had met since and had he apologised, but seemingly not.

After all these years I can still see the incident now, and I still find it very difficult to understand how such a huge call came to be made in such circumstances, and when nobody else in the ground saw a sending off offence. But then Cummings also "saw" a non-existent knock-on at MM, and didn't see a player a mile offside either to boot.

I don't believe he was ever sponsored by Specsavers, but I could be wrong.
