Personally, while the job is such a poisoned chalice, I can't see how ANY coach worth his salt could refuse THE top coaching job in the northern hemisphere, if offered?

1. If you are an RL coach, then coaching your country is (obviously) your ultimate ambition

2. He is not breaking his contract

3. He is out of contract at the end of the year and had no offer on the table from Bradford.

I'm scratching my head to work out how anyone has any issue with this no-brainer? Especially the 'loyalty' issue raised - if that was a genuine 2 way street then wouldn't he have already been signed up for another few years on a big money deal?

I think the players have more brain cells than you are assuming they do!

They get battered and bruised every week and suffer numerous bangs to the head...............but even they wouldn't be as daft to have the same opinion as yours. (IMO)

Calmed down a little now. And after reading what Mac has to say on the SL website I have no problems with his decision now.

I wish him well, and hope, as he says, he can sign off with a GF win. He seems to want to go for the right reasons, not just that we haven't offered him a contract yet.


Thanks for all the work and effort Steve and forgive me for my initial overreaction. Although it may not be remembered in a few years time, you've put a lot of effort and commitment into matters on and off the pitch. I doubt we would have had the likes of Whitehead, Donaldson, Addy, Burgii, Tate, Lilycrop, Hellewell, O'Brien etc etc coming through the clubs systems if you weren't the coach.
