Jack Kitching was a schoolteacher in Bradford, following his retirement from Northern he moved up to Cumbria, where he was involved in coaching, Whitehaven I believe, and I also informed he dabbled in politics. Served in the Royal Navy during the war as an officer, and was torpedoed, spending four hours in the Irish sea before being rescued. Them was assigned to convoy duties in the med guarding convoys to Malta, hardly a safe posting.

Such a small world. Was that Pitts the younger?
