They brought in a signing deadline after 2005 season to stop late signings/loan deals to bring in extra players on short deals purely for playoff push. you cant add players to your squad after a certain date ( which is sometime in last week or two). Hence eatwood not coming till next year for leeds. Likewise even if we did sign rudd now we couldnt play him in first team till next season. think we'll extend his trial period till end of season then take a decision re signing him personally.

You can only have some one on trial for a maximum of 4 weeks.

well if we are going to sign him, there's no reason that he can't remain training with the club even if he can't "officially" be classed as one of our players

whats shortest contract we can award? is it possible to sign til end of season like we did with rinaldi? bit of a gamble giving him a 1-2 year deal on back of 4 academy games. If we could sign him til end of season then make a decision on back of 8 or so games I'd be happier although on his performances so far I dont think a 1 year SL would be unreasonable if a bit of a gamble.
