Also the overnight forecast is -1 to -4 with some snow for the rest of the week, so getting snow/ice off the terraces might be the biggest problem.
Lastly, not that I'm a pessimist or anything, but sometimes the pitch gets waterlogged (although I think they did something about drainage a few years back?). It was not unknown, before 'summer rugby', for games to be reliant on one of our supporters and his road cleaning vehicle squeegeeing the pitch.'"

I have just read an article from 2004 in which Simmo says that the drainage of the pitch has been vastly improved by adding over 60 tonnes of sand over the years. At that time he was waiting for a second pump to arrive to reduce the time to water the pitch! (Apparently it is now too free draining and, before 2nd pump, would take over 8 hours to water!). |
