| Interesting comment made by Eddie tonight that seeing Percival and Makinson reminded him of Newlove and Sullivan at their peak. Don't mean to get carried away but the kid Percival looked pretty damn special at times tonight.

As do I
I've always rated him. He never really got injured at U16's but when he was put in the U19's a bit early he started to fall apart a bit, the rest is history.
I dunno I've thought about it a bit; perhaps sometimes when a player over physiques they become vulnerable to knocks? Having said that his injuries appear to be more skeletal than musclular.
If it was just one particular injury that keeps happening, they can sometimes be fixed (generally!), but with Gary its various parts of his body.
It's a bit of a puzzle - does he not go into tackles correctly, causing injury or is he - as some would say - made of paper tissue?

| Ashe may have been anonymous tonight but it was his tackle on whichever Leeds player it was at around the halfway point of the first half that started to swing the game in our favour. As a result of that tackle we got our first bit of field position and slowly we began clawing our way back at that point.
I thought the try created by Manu, Percival and Makinson was the best I have seen from a Saints side in, well, I can't remember how long. That was a special, special play and one I have been dying to see (so glad Makinson and Percy were paired up together at last).

Can't comment on Hohaia really - not seen that much of him, but I've never seen Perry do ANYTHING in all the time he's been with Saints - did he even play tonight??

| Laffranchi showed improvement tonight for me, Perry really is stealing a living though.

Laffranchi tackles well, but he does nothing with the ball, he doesn't put any effort into the collision at all.

| It maybe me, but I thought that Laffranchi was a bit wider and playing 2nd row last night. I think TP and Walmsley were the replacement props and Laffranchi the 2nd rower?? With Tompson also proping.
That is where Laffranchi should always play. In fact I'm pretty sure he covered Manu's spot when he was off.

Assuming Graham and the young Burgess are two props & Sam Burgess plays back row, then there's two prop slots open
Who are the front runners? For me, it would be Crabtree. Perhaps Walmsly can get the other slot?
Walmsley's only half way through his season, so I'd expect him to improve as we go along. He's definately worth a sport on the squad IMO.

I was thinking that.
To be fair to him, Ryan Bailey was very good against us on monday and Leeds have been going well.
Dom Crosby getting big wraps.
Larne Patrick was looking good last year and is very dynamic, but I haven't really noticed him this year.
What about your lad up at Hull? I've always liked Lynch, but how's young Liam Watts been going?
Justin poore of Wakefield has declared himself English, hasn't he?
There's also the possibility they could use Sam Burgess and Ben Westwood to share the 4th prop work?
