Signed as a winger, moved to second row by Hanley, I believe.

| I always hate it when people mention Derek McVey in such threads:
One, because it instantly gives ammunition to those who have slated the standards of superleague
Two, because the guy had about 10 good games and lives off a particularly good performance against Wigan
Three, because he was guilty of some of the most appalling errors that madfe Roy haggerty's performance against Wigan in 1989 Challenge Cup Final look good. Off load from 5 yards from your own line against Brisbane ring any bells. the Aussies practically fell over laughing at that blooper.
And finally because the guy was so good that he was signed by Brisbane, I mean St. George, I mean Parramatta... oh sorry, some team in the sticks.
Derek McVey - the Tony Yeboah of SuperLeague.

Decent call that... Degsy gave us some good moments in the dizzy days of 1996, none more so than his commentary and the use of teh F word live on teh BBC, he came up with some good stuff now n then to, but defo not a player to have in a best 13 a best 17 etc etc.... great guy though, funny and I used to love his sponsored Ford Siera, it had to be the worst sponsored car ever, it was about 8 years old hahahaha
Anyoen remember who the car sponsor was ??????????

| Quote St. Etrigan="St. Etrigan"Bobbie Goulding '"
He may well have had a better kicking and passing game than Long, although I believe that people are overrating his skill in both those facets of his play i.e. Martyn was a better passer and Goulding didn't really have a long kicking game. People forget just how great Long has been with his big game temperament and it's in the big games that you make your mark as a player. Iro was never a week-in week-out star, however put him in a big game and he was brilliant pretty much throughout his career. Long's record speaks for itself and at his best he's been better than Goulding.

| Bobbie goulding is the best scrum half I've ever seen play in the years I've watched rugby.
He had the lot. Rugby brain, clever, passing, kicking, goal kicking and more.
If he could have sorted his life out off the pitch he would have lifted many trophys for saints.
He was a proper scrum half with all the cheek.
