Should have given him a 2 year deal; clearly other SL teams still believe in him more than we do which must hurt.
IMO we got this one wrong and we should also have considered the effect this will have on the team morale. He has some very close friends in the team who might not be looking forward to next year quite as much who might also be thinking about their future and how loyalty is treated etc etc.
Saints got this spot on. If any players thinks he is bigger than the club, Mr. Big will soon sort them out and they'll end up at Warrington or Wigan.

| Good luck sean, but how the hell did he get a two year contract at 33??
Hull's transfer policy looks as shrewd as does Bradford's these days...

My thoughts exactly. TBH I think Sean has done very very well to get a 2 year deal at what is a very big club in Hull (who already have 2 halfbacks on contract ....)

| If Hull have 2 halfbacks, i'm yet to see them! That's our problem and the reason why we have probably rushed in here. Horney is miles better at FB and Thorman is quite simply finished. Longs kicking game will be a massive plus for us but not sure about him leading us round the park at 33. We'll see.

People have mentioned it before, but I'm 99% certain it's nonsense.

So far as I know he didn't. He's 32, isn't he?

| I think this is probably the best outcome for Saints, although i would have liked him to sign a 1 year deal, with a view to signing another season if hes playing well enough. Also, its probably the best move for Longy, as it guarantees him 2 years no matter how poor hes playing and he has to think about his future, and obviously 2 years worth of money is better than 1.
Maybe a little selfish off me, but i hope he is a flop at Hull, otherwise it could come back to bite us on the ar$e in the end. I wish him well at Hull, but hope it doesn't come back to haunt us.

Unless Hull are planning on signing 12-15 other players of Long's quality, it won't.

He is. He turns 33 in september, so will end his 2 yrs at the tender age of 35. A good deal for longy, and possibly for Hull, if he is like Langer who was still ripping it up in SOO at 36. Big if though.

I think it would be good for him to have a cool swansong! Let him fly into retirement with endless last minute drop goals and weaving around the pitch and growing silly hairstyles. I hope he goes well for Hull. If he comes back to haunt us well so be it. We'll deal with it I'm sure.
