| Quote: Blobbynator "Sadly I agree. I just don't see what Wellens brings to us anymore. It's purely sentimental to keep him in and if he gets a new contract I'll be extremely disappointed and amazed quite frankly.
Sounds like discipline was a problem and a lack of spark with the ball, maybe people who went can confirm this? Add in a determined Hull KR after last week with good players coming back for them and the result isn't really a surprise. We're missing key players and its hard for us at the moment. Lomax, Puletua, Roby and Manu are big losses to replace.'"
Those are big players to have missing. Lomax was are main attacking threat before he got injured. TP when on his game is devastating down the middle and can bust tackles. Roby is just roby, world class. I know Manu hasn't set the world on fire but he's still a big danger with the ball, he's not busting tackles like he was at hull but he attracts 2/3 defenders and gets some good offloads (some poor ones as well tho).

| Quote: Chris Saint "Do you not think that today he was kept at 6 only because Lance wasn't up to playing 80mins first game back? (I'm hoping that was why)
Squad for Friday will be interesting, if we do have Lomax back at 1 with Swift moving into 6 today maybe that is an option that Brown is considering with Gardner/Makinson back on the wing.
Hull Kr were always going to bounce back after their "week off", but our discipline appears to have killed us and totally negated what sounded like a positive tackling display'"
I knew wello was playing 6 from Wednesday when he was told. Brown is trying to stick with a partnership as we've chopped and changed so many times this year.
The fact Howarth has been brought in suggests that Brown will play lance or wello at 6.

| From what I heard the discipline was terrible. That has nothing whatsoever to do with injuries. There is no excuse for giving away three penalties on your own line, on more than one occasion. Poor attitude by Saints.

| Your were poor today, but your fans were a credit to you. Sure you'll be ok when you get a few players back.

| Unlucky result today. New Craven Park is always a difficult ground to get a win from.

Cheers for that! Shame it is less than exciting and sounding more sentimental.
Whatever happened with Gaskell is a shame for all parties and with Wheelers injury had left us impossibly short of half backs so I can understand the calls for consistency as it breeds understanding throughout the team.
However I do share the complete lack of enthusiasm for Wellens at 6 (even in the 17 if I am honest) I would rather we tried with Wilkin & Swift/Charnock and stuck with it that for a minimum 6-8 games, surely that would be better than what in essence only ever a short term option, we are always going to be one paced and easy to read in attack if we are being directed by a forward and the worlds slowest back.

| What is our record at Craven Park since KR came up? I only ever remember us getting beaten there in the last few years.

We drew last season, but we haven't won since 2007 I believe

I understand wanting a understanding between the halves but putting wello in at #6 is making us worse than what we already are. He's just to slow to play there and its a dead ball every time he gets it. He doesn't know when to pass, when to go, when to kick etc.
In the first min at wigan on Good Friday, we got on there line and moved the ball right, we had them struggling to get across, the ball came to wello and he threw at very poor pass which stopped the attack. In big games like that, those passes have to be spot on. Who knows what would have happened if scored so early against a young Wigan team.

Not always been easy playing Hull KR though has it mate? I remember you starting a thread about leaving at half time against KR a few years back, because Wigan weren't playing very well.

| Does Stirlingshire Saint not frequent this board anymore? He used to have many a jibe about Rovers when we first came up, he swore we'd never take a point off Saints! Unbeaten since 2007 at CP now.
We've only beaten yourselves once away since our SL inception as well. It's about time one of us broke that away duck!

| Really disappointing performance from us today, in a game where we had the opportunities win. You couldn't fault any of them for effort, but you simply can't afford to make basic errors like we did today, and the amount of penalties we conceded was ridiculous. As I say, the lads worked hard, and gave it there all, but we lacked the composure in those key moments, and that is what cost us in the end.
There were a couple of occasions where we broke the line, but tried to force the play rather than taking the tackle and looking to build on the next play. You could take that for inexperience, and in some cases it was, but we are talking about senior players making basic errors they really shouldn't be making. It's not easy when you lose a player so early on, but we did have the opportunities to win, and with that bit of composure, we would have done. You simply can't concede so many penalties and expect to win a game, and our discipline simply wasn't good enough.
I thought Swift, Meli and Percival were sensational today, and Sia was his usual self, but the half back situation really is a problem. Paul Wellens is a club legend, and sweats blood for us every time he pulls on a shirt, but he simply isn't a stand-off, and he is seriously limiting our options in an attacking sense. Dobson and Craig Hall on the other hand are natural halves who complement each other well, and that was the difference today. They took there opportunities and were composed in attack, where as we weren't, and made made errors errors at times where we should be positing points.
