| Quote: bewareshadows "It's tricky as it's a results based industry and the results say that he had to go. However the basis for those results seams to be down to unrest rather than coaching.
Unrest brought about by NB signing for Saints, their Captain leaving and pretty much every club having a good long look at Danny Brough.
Nathan Brown has elevated the Giants to playing with the top of the league, they has one really good year with Sharp, but nothing more notable than that, to not being out of the top 5 under brown, the old playoff places.
For me it seams that Huddersfield have got to the top of the tree, but staying there is a tougher job. When you are in 10th regularly, people are not looking to poach your players and coaches, now they have been in the top 5, 3 years running players are in demand and are going to be poached or tempted.
Saints had to ward off Warrington last year over TP, edmonson was offered better bucks to go play lower down the league. It's tough holding it together at the top and Huddersfield just don't seam to be able to do it and the club have cracked over these competing pressures.
If they lose Brough as well then I can't see them staying in the top half next year.'"
You have no idea.
All the players knew Nathan Brown was leaving at the beginining of the year. did that affect the team in the first 12 games,
Kevin Brown asked for a transfer at the start of the season al the players knew it. Did that affect the team in the first 12 games.
The players got annoyed because they were constantly made to play in positions in which they struggled.
Did 34 year old second rower Lee Gilmour feel happy playing at Prop and geting snmashed every week NO.
Did David Faiumu a 31 year old Hooker want to play prop and get smashed carrying the ball in at first reciever No.
Did Kevin Brown a lightweight stand off who is game but not the strongest tackler want to be Loose Forward No i dont think so.
Did Grix move to stand off when he had played well at Full back all the previous season and be happy i doubt it. When he is missing 6 tackles a match it is bound to affect his confidence.
Who sold Darrell Griffin and replaced him with Tony Tonks
all of these and many more baffling ones are the reasons the players got unhappy with NB because they knew it was wrong, it was not working but Brown stuck to it. The team kept getting beat and confidence was completely shot.
The players were unhappy

I agree, I don’t know the motives of a lot of what has gone on at the Hud, but Brown for most of the time has seemed to be on his game. He sometimes gives out an aura laidbackness rarely seen, or as my mate said when I said this in the pub, “No, he’s so laidback he’s more than horizontal, he’s prostate” no one laughed, and he won’t have it that it’s an old one. As for brown the coach at Saints, after the last few weeks, I not sure now, but I guess we’ll soon find out.
PS “No. 1 Saint” nice to read a RL comment (NO SARCASM INTENDED)

| If Brown was going home I doubt there'd have been this sort of dip in form. By joining Saints (perhaps because it was the best offer he had) he's effectively gone back on his word with Huddersfield which broke the trust he had with those players. As soon as you don't feel you can trust your manager all sorts of horrible things start happening. Hudds players thought he was going home but he wasn't.

Brown's coaching record;-
NRL coaching career: St George Illawarra 2003-2008 – 142 games (75 wins, 67 defeats)
No Trophies Won
Super League coaching career Huddersfield Giants 2009-2012 – 92 games (53 wins 1 draw 38 defeats)
No Trophies Won
The above facts prove Brown is certainly not a World Class coach, not even a particularly good one. Pretty mediocre if you ask me.
I would have been tempted to stick with Rush and Cunningham to be honest.
Also he was never under pressure at the Giants, after what happened to Simmons the pressure is gonna be on right from the start at Saints, he may not even make it thru the first season?

How do they prove that? Huddersfield were dreadful when he took over. They've made semi-finals and play-offs since then. This is with a handful of decent players many of which he developed himself.
He's a coach, not a miracle worker. Until he gets the proper resources nobody knows how good he is.

I honestly think some of these hudds fans are deluded if they honestly think that there mediocre squad is good enough to win things!
In 15 years of super league, only saints, Wigan, Leeds and the bulls have won the grand final which shows just how hard it is for the "lesser" teams to win it.
Only saints, Leeds, Wigan, bulls, warrington and hull have won the challenge cup in the super league era, once again it shows the big teams have a monopoly.
The fact the giants was a bottom tier team when Brown took over and they have made a challenge cup final, challenge cup semi finals, grand final semis show just what a great job he's done.
I think these giants fans need to take a long look in the mirror and I don't mean all 2,000 of them.

Almost got it right
I agree some of the desperate Brown bashing going on just makes them sound bitter.

They was top of the league for few weeks and it's gone to their head big time!

So NB didn't have proper resources at St. George then? No offence, but the money, facilities & player pool he had there would put any SL club to shame, Saints included. And he still failed.
