Hull FC may just be in for Shenton because Hull KR are in for Shenton. There maybe no real intention to buy, just an intention to make Hull KR pay as much as possible for any player they sign.

Lets hope the twitter is true that Cas have offered a deal to match Saints as that will save us a few pennies.

Well, after seeing the performances of the Hudds centres so far tonight, I certainly don't want any of them and I hope Shenton isn't leaving us. He would have passed where McGilveray didn't in that first scoring opportunity and he would have put more effort into defence than half the Hudds team have done up to now.

I hope this propensity to give up on games isn't a product of the Nathan Brown school of coaching.

It's interesting that it's Huddersfield hitting the 2nd half of the season again, not as good as the first half.

Huddersfield have the advantage of having a bye in the next round though so they are not going to suffer back to back defeats.

It was interesting before I knew that Brown was coming our way but now it is definitely worrying. What is just as worrying is this capitulation. I do hope it is this particular group of players and not an indication of what we are going to endure next season.

And to think, there are over 10,000 at that match. 10,000 have come to watch Hudds become all pathetic and give the game to Wigan.

Huddersfield have never had the ability to beat the top teams regularly or in high pressure games. I'm not sure whether it's the calibre of player they have though, I wouldn't take any of their main creators in Brown, Robinson or Brough.

On another note, I'm a bit disappointed with some of the comments about Shenton. Whilst I don't think he's performing well enough at the moment, I think the celebrating that he might be leaving is over the top. He's still a Saints player and deserves our support at matches and is far from our worst ever signing.

We get Wigan, Huddersfield get Salford. It's a bye, certainly not a derby... icon_lol.gif

I would not say celebration, but as a Saints fan if he is going then I'd rather it was to a club who will pay all his wages. Whilst no a huge fan of Shenton, neither do I hate him, but he has been a disappointment from what I was expecting. (maybe I over expected)?

But he joins a list of disappointments and is far from the top of that list. In terms of getting shut of players he would be probably at the bottom of that list. There are a few others I could quite happily get the bunting out for.
Having said all that when at the game, I'll still cheer and shout for Perry et al. It's one thing to be critical another to basically become an opposition fan.

Pretty much agree with this.

Look at Huddersfield and you see a team of good players, but no out and out stars.

The one area i think they are better than Saints is on the Wing, were both wingers have pace but also work well infield.

What encourages me with regard to Brown coming to Saints is that many of their players were seen as cast off journeymen players from other clubs, yet are now seen as very good players.

Greg Eden couldnt get a game at Castleford, yet looks like having enormous potential at fullback.
Mcgilvary was knocking about at championship level for Batley and Barrow
Scott Grix classic journeyman played for Doncaster,Halifax, leigh & widnes in the lower leagues before signing for Wakefield
Kevin Brown, once promising Wigan youngster who was discarded by them after struggling with form. found his feet at Huddersfield.
Danny Brough an enfant terrible, former york player who was then passed like a ticking bomb from Hull to castleford, and to Wakefield before finally settling at Huddersfield.
Luke Robinson another highly praised Wigan youngster who was discarded after allegedly upsetting some of the senior players there. Spent the next few years playing at Salford and a brief period at Castleford before making his mark at Huddersfield.
Keith Mason former wakefield player who went down under to try his luck, made a couple of appearances out there before being signed by Saints, whereupon he became a figure of ridicule by some of the fans. Very brief stint at Castleford before making a decent name for himself at Huddersfield.

There are a lot more i can go through, but i think people should be able to get the jist of things that Huddersfield are largely composed of decent players but few if any genuine stars. Its therefore no wonder that they have tended to come up short against the big guns.

Brown at Saints with a team that does possess some genuine big guns or potential big guns, should be able to get a lot more out of the side. Hopefully he will also be able to identify some promising but discarded talent elsewhere that we could then pick up cheaply and mold into good SL players. This is particularly true of the three quarters.

Shenton is not going to Hull KR but is in negotiations with Castleford.
