| Quote: bewareshadows "I'm not going to question the figures, but just point out that counting seats sold and unsold does not really give any pattern for sales.
If the chairs figures are correct then when you add all sold and unsold allocated seating it only comes to roughly 5000k seats.
That's about a quarter of all available tickets.
We know the terracing are just under 4k each end. Which means seating wise we are only counting half the seats in the stadium on those figures stated above.
The numbers shift around and go up and down as people change seats or upgrade, but we can say with certainty that Saints have sold 4k of the seats we can see, that is 80% allocated seating sold.
If of the remain 9k of season tickets, that can be sold (away end excluded) say 50% has gone you are already looking at season ticket sales of 8-9k.
But like I say it's impossible to tell. Only the club knows how they are doing sales wise and publishing the figures could have a positive effect on sales or a depressing effect on sales depending on how people view it.
There is certainly 1 thing you can say, with season tickets for adults going at a rate of £261, even 4k worth of confirmed sales from the web site, brings in more revenue than say a bradford season ticket pledge of £85, for 12k sales.
I have no doubt that Saints will have sold more than the 4k we can all see and count.
PS block E on the north stand is now fully sold me thinks.'"
The 3800+ ticket sales is only a guide to see how things are going.
As you have said, and has been commented in earlier posts. We dont know about unreserved and family area seating, nor do we know about the extent of terrace season ticket sales, or much of the corporate sales. So we need to base our guesses on how the sales go in the North and South reserved sections.
I am confident that we will crack the 4000 reserved regular seat sales in the North and South stands before christmas.
This should help create a good atmosphere as it will mean that there will be a good amount of fans in each stand.
It will also look good on TV.
I also suspect that because terrace fans dont have a designated seat, they are more likely to leave buying a season ticket to later in the day. Christmas may therefore prove to be a boom time for terrace season ticket sales.
The great thing from the clubs point of view from these seat sales is the extra revenue it brings in, over and above that of the standard terrace price. At Knowsley road the main stand held approximately 2300. Of which around 2000 were season ticket holders. There was also no corporate seating at KR, while at the new stadium there are around 1000 premium seats, all of which cost significantly more than a standard seat.

I'm sure I read somewhere, maybe one of your posts, that all corporate was sold out?
Or was that just the boxes? Is there a difference?
Do you get a cushion in corporate or a better standard of pie?

All the executive boxes were sold out for the full season some time ago according to Saints.
Saints were also advising that they had less than 200 premium seats remaining.
Now that could be marketing spiel to try to get the corporates in early, but i like to think that the posh padded seats are going to be full to the brim of the lorded gentry of Merseyside.

That would be impossible because Merseyside doesn't exist except in the minds of bureaucrats.
The lorded gentry of Lancashire, now that's a different matter ...

I've just done a count to see how sales are going now the season is over and the stadium is getting closer to completion.
I get it to now be 771 left of the allocated seating - slowing sales but hopefully when people are allowed to look round the facilities it might convince a few more, as would extending the early bird until December 24th (sure this has happened previously)
It would be interesting to see how many of the unallocated areas, the terraces and family areas have been sold so far too, if they are at 40% that would be another 2900 sales. I'm not sure about the unallocated areas but I would expect the standing to be more than that and wouldn't be surprised if the family area sales are better too.

I reckon by the time the season starts we'll have 9-10k.

13-14k I reckon.
No basis at all for those by the way, just gut feel.

| This is St Helens we are talking about, where the majority of the town have nothing but apathy for the club (I have no reason why).
id expect our average to be 12-13k in the first season tops, then 10k-11k in the second season when away fans have seen our stadium.

I think there is a lot of apathy in the town. But there are also a lot of people who wouldn't go to Knowsley Road because of the facilities.
If we don't see a sizeable increase then we're doing something drastically wrong.

| I did a count yesterday and got roughly the same numbers as Chris Saint.
North stand tickets sold - 2600 out of a total of 2787.
South stand tickets sold - 1338 out of a total of 1924
3938 allocated tickets sold.

| Surely your season ticket sales in the first year will be the die hard fans who will buy them no matter what. Especially now the club is back in town.
The figure will increase before the start of next season.
I think you will sell a lot more the 2nd season. A lot of Saints fans will be walk up in the first year and then after liking what they see with the stadium and team will buy a ST for the following year.
I do disagree that your crowds will decrease the 2nd year, I think they'll increase. More ST holders and more walk up. Also when word gets around about the new standium more away fans will turn up the 2nd year.
From the photos the new place looks very good. If it is as good as it looks then crowds will go up on the KR figures and by quite a bit too!

Tricky to estimate as seating configuration has changed a little, but off the plans at the council
North Allocated 2600/2787
North Unallocated ??/1848
South Allocated 1338/1924
South Unallocated ??/818
South Family Stands ??/834
South Corporate 800?/1426 (seems a lot but based on planned capacity less everything else)
South Boxes 360/360 (according to reports)
West Terracing ??/3800
West Seating ??/62
Wheelchairs ??/121
If we manage to sell 50% of the unkowns that would be 8,800, I'd certainly hope we'd exceed that in the terracing and be pushing 10,000 in time for February but it requires stay aways from KR taking the plunge and committing.
As for averages, at KR we had around 6,000 season tickets and averaged 11,000 in 2009, if we have 9,000 ST's at the new gaff and some increased away support then 13,000 should be easily achievable.
