The Japanese don't imitate or produce better. They shrink everything. And indeed they have shrunk Pilks. A goodly few thousand made redundant worldwide including 100 in St Helens over the last year or so.

How's your coal industry doing.... Oh I forgot your families all sold out and scabbed! Hence your pie-ater nicknames.
'Proud to be pie-eaters'...that is nothing to be proud of.

Well actually, the other towns capitulated less than a week after the Wiganers did, who were actually on strike a good three to four weeks before the rest - so they were out on strike considerably longer than the other towns.
But don't let facts get in the way of a good bit of tit-for-tat, eh?

Heinz is and always has been American. Pilks was St Helens through and through until a couple of years ago.

I know the facts
This is just a myth invented by pie-eaters to try and defend themselves, although I am glad you agree that the Wiganers went back first, cap in hand!
Your FACTS are not facts as the actual strike only lasted for 10 days. And all miners were 'locked-out' 13 days before the strike started. So there is no way that they were out 3 to 4 weeks before. I am sure you will agree your maths don't add up.
But don't let the facts get in the way of a good excuse, eh?

So? Most of our industry is foreign owned. So long as it provides jobs, what does it matter?

Yes Robinson really does have the knack of degenerating threads into tit for tat battles. He's very very good at it

| Wigan is home to the annual World Pie Eating Championship, usually held at Harry's Bar on Wallgate, Wigan. The competition has been held since 1992 and in 2007 a vegetarian option was added.[105] Wiganers are sometimes referred to as "pie-eaters". The name is said to date from the 1926 General Strike when Wigan miners were starved back to work before their counterparts in surrounding towns and were forced to metaphorically eat "humble pie".[96][106]
