Hear hear. My MoM too. Great game yet again from the best British prop around.

Quote: Saddened! "I wouldn't say its a surprise for the senior and most talented player on the pitch to take control. Pryce is truly world class and he was a clear MOM tonight. Compare with Tomkins and Leu Leu. Neither of them controlled anything either although you have to praise Tomkins' effort and danger in broken play.'"

icon_lol.gif I can read on no more, a 5 page thread and i am stumped on the fourth or fifth comment!

Do you seriously mean that.......did you watch the game?

You do realise Pryce played tonight and is not a player from the NRL?

His 'momentum' didn't carry him over the line, he was tackled by Prescott (I think) at least a metre before the line and his elbow hit the deck and therefore the tackle was complete.

He then 'shimmied' using his other hand out of Prescott's grasp and went over the line moving after his elbow hit the grass.'"

I really shouldn't bite but momentum and a soaking wet pitch carried him over. If it's a continuous movement(which it was, so no stop/start) then it's try time. Hundreds of tries have been awarded due to the momentum of a player carrying him over as he slides. And guess what, hundreds more like it will follow in years to come. Get over yourself, it was never in doubt, always a try. His 'slide' never stopped until he was over the whitewash, end of story.
icon_lol.gif

By the way you can't rule it out on the grounds that he wouldn't have scored on a dry track, utter drivel. Fact is, it was raining and that means you can slide from 10 metres out and score as long you don't stop moving. icon_confused.gif

and that is classed as momentum.

Kyle did well with the try last night, but he was (as said before in the thread) pretty anonymous last night for large parts of the game, and it really showed that his infield kicking needs alot of improving. But good things come to those who wait..!

I thought some of the kicks he put in were excellent it's just it wasnt consistent enough and too many times he was in the wrong position on the last which meant he was under too much pressure. Like you say though things like that come with experience, Wigan were in his face all night and he simply wont be used to the game at that kind of speed.

jammers ball playing is very good idea that DA used a few times last year.

As we well know he is our only prop and teams started to single him out for 3 defenders to smash him.

So he draws 3 men in then gives the pass.

I think DA used it to good effect against Leeds in the playoff last year.

Totally agree! Games like last night will make him a better player in the end.

yet he was only player who was going to win that game for us.

At only 20yrs of age I think he is very very important to us.

I thougt the tackle is only complete when forward momentum was halted. Kyle was obviously moving all the way through the slide.
Personnally, I don't see how his 'non ball carrying arm' being involved in pushing himself along is even in the mix.
If he had people hanging off him and used his legs to push himself over the line, no one would say a thing.
Good try. Simple as that.

So do you really want to see players diving way before the line ala Union style in wet conditions?

10m out in dry conditions and diving does not ensure you hit the line ashmeister.

That is a ridiculous statement you have made.

But it often does when the conditions are wet, as they were last night, and although Kyle did indeed propel himself, it was in one continuous movement which simply fed into the momentum already established by the wet conditions and the impact of the defenders. He wouldn't have scored that try in the dry, at least not without obvious double movement! But it wasn't dry, it was wet. So it was scored and given.
