eddie was in the building trade then had a few pubs as mentioned.the last i heard he was a joint owner of the duke of cambridge on duke street.

As a player, I remember him as having loads of talent, but as with many players of his semi professional generation, probabaly never fulfilled his potential. Not sure if this was down to his commitments outside the game, love of the odd pint or two, or what, but still have fond memories of watching him play. Would put him in the "talented character" pigeon hole along with John Walsh.

He was a great player of his day, he would have done well in the modern era as a full time pro.

I used to bump into Eddie quite a lot in the building trade after his playing days were over.

I do recall him telling me that he'd had to have a lot of surgery because of injuries he had received while playing for GB down under, he said he was held together with nuts and bolts like Barry Sheene.

He complained that in those days GB didn't carry much insurance on the players and he was aggrieved at the lack of help he had got.

I often wonder if this influenced Kieron's attitude to playing for GB.

Saw Eddie make his debut for Wigan as a 17yr old great player and did well at Wigan.
