That was the first thing that came to my mind when we signed Flanagan.

| Gilmour type player?
sounds good to me, lets hope he is at least half as good as gilmour was for us.
I think TP and Clough as props makes sense anyway.
LMS will have to raise his game next year.

Chances are his time in Australia will have improved his game aswell. He hasn't played much this year but played more last season for Wests first team then he ever did at Wigan.'"
Every chance that he will make the England squad in 2012

| To be honest I've no idea whether it's a good signing, but it's always hard to tell.
I thought Soliola, Perry, LMS, Shenton would all rip it up in their first season, in the end there has been no revolution, although soliola has been good this year.
Players I never expected anything from when they started
Fasavalu, Meli (moving to centre), Lyon(spent previous year playing for a pub side), , Cunningham (lets not forget he was something like 4th choice for hooker when he was picked)

| Nothing like Gilmour IMO.
More like a cross between Flannery and Wilkin or for us O'Loughlin and Phil Bailey(when he was here).
He isn't going to bust holes in defences like Gilmour could but he may put others into them.

| Good signing for you guys.
Was gutted when he left us when he did, he had just broke through in the hardest era for a youngster to do so as Noble wasnt keen on the risk of them.. even Sam suffered because of it. Flanagan played at KR just before he went to Australia and made a hell of a difference defensively aswel.
Good to see him back - Shame its in a V

| from what i hear about him a good signing.
Think this means TP will play next year at prop, although another prop would be nice with laffranchi, clough, LMS, perry, Puletua and Magennis i think we'd be able to cope. With everyone fit our pack would match if not better most in super league's i'd like to think.

It looks like Simmons thinks a lot of Ashurst and Dixon, as quoted from the Saints website[iHe has learnt off the likes of Gareth Ellis and Robbie Farrah and that can only be beneficial. He will fit into the culture with the other young blokes here - the likes of Ashurst, Dixon, Foster, Hale and Makinson who are all tremendous young kids.[/i'"

He's not been brought in to replace either of them. He's been brought in as a direct replacement for a player that's yet to be announced he's leaving.

Could this player be one that has looked like he's been playing quite well in recent weeks and has been playing bumper cars recently.
