Personally, I dont really envy Wigan that much...

After all, the last 3 years has been our transitional period (losing Scully, Long, KC between 08-10 who were our main strike players, as well as the likes of Gidley, Talau, Gilmour etc who were class acts for us but got too old) and with the replacements we have signed and youngsters we have blooded it still looks like a very bright future for us.

And we have gone through this phase staying in the top 3 of SL each season, 3 CCSF appearances and 2 GFs so far with possibility of a 3rd GF...havent almost been relegated/finished bottom of the pile and have only lacked silverware for 3 seasons including this one, not 8 years like Wigan before last year.

Whilst Wigan are a superb side now and deserve their glory at the moment, I would rather stay consistently up there and look to challenge again over next couple of years than hit the lows our neighbours over the hill had to hit before rising again to where they are now personally

It will take more than one SL title and one cup for my envyometer to start flickering, especially given we're about to move into a new stadium whilst they continue to rent from a bad soccer team.

If they rack up 14 major trophies (no hubcaps please) in 12 years anytime soon, then my envyometer will be going big time. Or if they win the lot then follow it up with the WCC 2006/2007 stylee.

At the moment, it's just a minor irritance.

Here's hoping for a Wire win at the weekend to spoil their hopes of the domestic treble

As us Wigan fans are so often told by our rivals, it's best to not look back at past glory's but rather to the present. Well as a Wigan fan I'm more than happy to do so. We are after all at present the SL and CC champions/ holders. Where as our near neighbors from over the hill are at present trophy-less, comforted only by past glory's. Which mustn't me dwelled upon or reminisced about apparently.

But you can't automatically assume that you'll be challenging for honors again just because your Saints. Many a Wigan fan thought that, and it was a tough ten years I'll tell ya.

I dont envy the fact The Pies have to put up with that sewer rat Tomkins every day in and around the club...

But the envyometer DID begin after a period of serious Saints dominance and abject Wigan capitulation. When the roles are reversed, we can perhaps talk about a flicker registering on the Saints envyometer.

One SL title in what, 12 years? It'll take more than that son. Leeds and Bradford both make that look trifling, never mind Saints, and they haven't had to cheat to avoid relegation in the meantime

If you're going to cheat, at least try to have trophies to show for it rather than abject failure eh?

Well the envyometer doesn't really exist you know. It's a figure of Saints fan's imaginations created because after 100 years of trying Saints were finally a better side than Wigan. Now unfortunately for you that relativley short period of dominance you had is over and your back where you belong It's two actually.

SL's been going for the best part of 15 years most of which Saints have been good and Wigan, well let's say they've been indifferent.

But the fact is those roles have now been reversed and we are the side at the top winning trophy's adding to our records. While potentially because know one knows, you could be stuck in no mans land for the next decade trying to once again better and overcome your more famous and successful neighbors.. (I certainly hope so)
