| Good luck to him. He certainly didn't look like a want away player last week. Let's send him off with some (more) medals in his kit bag.

What the????
What an utter waste of money. He doesn't offer anything Fleming couldn't do for less money. It does seem McManus is back to having his feet up and letting us rot because we won the GF last season.

| Let's not start denouncing players as a "waste of money" who have yet to have a decent run in the first team as a regular.
Personally I think Dawson has made plenty of improvements in the (very) limited opportunities he's had. For a start he's much bigger than last season.

| Hope it works out well for Jonesy, for me he has come up with a mixed bag of performances and lately he has been very good. Thought he might have kicked on and developed to another level in a a similar way to Percival last year but he didn,t. Don,t know if that was down to lack of selection opportunities, attitude, confidence etc.
I assume Dawson has got the 2 year deal because of the Jonesy exit, we don,t want too may Utility players in the squad, we,ve got a bit of youth playing through but too develop they need to be in there dedicated positions, maybe Jonesy was a victim of this not happening.

Dawson isn't going to develop into anything he isn't now. He's a reasonably solid player, who at his natural level would be starting for a top end Championship or lower end SL side. He's not the kind of player we should be keeping ahead of a player from the academy. He's presumably being kept to cover centre and wing, but if KC finally gets his 'big strong winger', where would that leave Dawson? I just don't see what he offers to get in front of Fleming now. If we did sign another back, we'd probably never see Dawson again.

| Dawson to bulk up and take Jones position as utility back/2nd row then?
I hope we don't resign Flanagan after letting Jones go. That would be a terrible move IMHO.

| I just hope we're able to get Savelio on a longer contract. If he stays we've still got plenty of options and shouldn't really miss Jones (although it is a shame that he's going - he's a good player and will only get better). We'd be able to offload Flanagan without replacing him, too, IMO. If Savelio goes as well, though, then it starts to look a little thinner.

| As I posted a long long time ago that he was going Exeter. The deal they offered blew ours out the water and nobody can blame jones for taking that kind of money as its a short career.

Solid back up centre on a minimum wage, its a fine bit of business. If they were lining him up for a starting berth next year I'd be worried, but he's a decent go to when you need a man rather than a boy and will come in handy when Jones leaves.

Totally agree!!
He's a good lad, Dawson. Same with Flanagan. You can't have a squad of superstars with a salary cap....Does my head in when people slag them off and want the club to offload them, why???? They've got a brilliant attitude, they feel privileged to play for a team like Saints (thus putting 100% in on every opportunity) and they don't cost much. It's a squad game. Every team suffers with lots of injuries cos it's a tough game, so the quality of your squad matters massively. So keeping these lads signed up is great business.

| Shame Jones had to go, but the deal is a no brainer if the stuff on here has been quoted correctly.
I'd be more concerned about players like Jones leaving to Union than I would be about superstars, if it happened on a regular basis.

| I think jones Is a big loss. He fills both centre and Backrow very well. I hope we actully repłace him. In fact I hope we repłace all the players going out or the squad will lack quality depth player like the pre Brown times when we filled the team with to many youth players that just wasn't good enough.
