Now you are being silly.
Someone else mentioned Royce, not me. I'm entitled to respond. I've already said I'm concerned about Brown, and I am. I am also entitled to join in (somewhat sarcastically) with pointing out a blatant double standard among some Saints fans, which is what the poster I was replying to was doing.

| I don't see why people are opposed to Brown coming in now? All it would mean is that he has more time with the players and can actually work with them whilst they work on recruitment.
Rush has said he'll do the job as long as they need him for, but that he doesn't want to be doing it and would prefer to return to developing the young players. It would perhaps be the best thing for everyone, Huddersfield can move on and we get another few months with the coach.
I just don't get this 'leave him till the end of the season' stuff. Why? If anything, going off common sense and Brown's previous history, the first few months of his reign are going to be terrible results wise as he beds in the new systems and players. Why not do that this season, when our squad is poor and expectations are low rather than next season? If Brown is the man to take Saints forward, and I've got no definitive opinion on that, what harm is there in starting that process now?

Seriously?
We have got some kind of momentum going for us and things are looking steady if not spectacular. Why on earth would you want to throw all that up in the air just because our next coach can't get a win out of his present team?

Leave him where he is or if he gets sacked let him go home ANC recharge his batteries for what's going to be tough job next year.
If he comes in now it's hard for him to put his mark on the team like a full pre season would, I fell its better coming in with no games being played so he can put his things in place with experimenting during the season.
If he comes in now and we start to lose it will knock the confidence and will list next seasons "new coach effect".

| If they release him and we time it right the new coach effect could see us win silver.

Your dedication to having a different opinion is admirable, but it's not very constructive. They've identified Brown as the man to coach Saints going forward, so let him do the job. Rush has also said he doesn't want to be doing the job.
This season is a write off, we're not good enough to win SL this year, so why not use the time to start the development process we're going to go through under Brown?

Spot on mostly i'd approach Huddesfield to take Brown off there hands now, so he can concentrate on next year?
As for this season being a write off Never write the Saints off

| We still only have to win 3 more games to be SL "champions" this season and there's a long, long way to go until we have to win them yet... Personally I wouldn't want to rock any boats by bringing Brown in early - things could easily go south with yet more disruption to the side so late in the season so we'd be better off just cruising slow and steady to the end fo the season and then starting afresh thereafter. I doubt Hudds would sack him so late on in the season with him on the way in a few games' time anyway and noone any good available to come in and replace him.

His replacement is already there. Paul Anderson has been given the job.

| If he was sacked, then he can spend the next few month formulating his pre-season and getting to know the Saints structure. There is no advantage to bringing him in this late in the season, other than to give the players a 3rd way of playing in one season.
Whether we can win the GF or not is not relevant. Pre-season is the time to start practising plays and chopping and changing players about. He can start that from the second we come out of the playoffs, he can watch our academy and assess if Gaskell and Foster should be told whether they hold any interest for him. In a way he could get an oppertunity that no other coach gets which is a settling in period and getting to know the players as they play, without any sudden decisions being required.
It would be like a normal handover in a job, where the new guy gets to have some hands on experience before being given full control.

That would be a good compromise. Anything to help reduce the impact on our start next season. If Brown comes in after the season finishes and doesn't do anything until pre-season and the expected turnover of players happens, particularly if there are more changes in the halves, we could start very poorly again next season.
