Hopefully that will improve once the extra cladding is added.

Everybody within the Saints club fully understand that if the team play crap then the fans go silent. It's our way of telling them to get their bleedin act together. The atmosphere was fine in the second half when they actually did stuff like play for us to respond to.
Besides, we are in our second game. It took most of the season to build an atmosphere at Widnes. Why should it be any different at Langtree?

| You should go to Widnes! The atmosphere is zero. They're passionate about the game and their club. You only have to talk to them, especially the older ones, but nobody sings (they have no songs, just chants). A few young lads in the middle of the North Stand think banging a drum will create an atmosphere. It doesn't. New stadia don't seem able to generate an atmosphere in the way old ones did. I suppose it's a trade off. Comfort for atmosphere. When you get to my age, comfort wins!

Pretty noisy where I was stood in the West Stand! Granted there were quiet parts to the evening but show me a home crowd that doesn't go quiet at times when they are losing and I'll wake you up from the dream you're living.
The atmosphere, like the bar service, ticketing issues, weather, and everything else people are finding to have a whinge about will improve as the season progresses.

| The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic when we got into it, having fans in all 4 stands really made a big difference. It's just the 20 minute or so period when Salford where dominating that it sounded like everybody was whispering. Granted, that usually happens when teams are losing or on the back foot, that with a combination of the stadium not containing the noise is probably the reason why.

I know people on here will implode with fury at the heresy, but our fans aren't passionate enough to create an atmosphere. We don't get behind the team unless they are playing well. Knowsley Road was like a morgue until the likes of Wigan, Warrington and Leeds were in town. When they were the atmosphere was great, the low roof and having the singers on the half way line helped a lot. At the new ground, they are at the end of the pitch with the roof twice as high and a huge hole where the noise will drift out rather than bounce off.'"
I can't comment on the presence/lack of atmosphere at all having not been there, and being unable to motivate myself to bother watching it on Sky, but how can you expect any crowd to get excited over a game against opposition they have no particular rivalry with, and where the scoreline simply has no influence over the outcome of their season even slightly? I'm amazed that there would be any atmosphere at all at any stage under those circumstances frankly.

I wasn't expecting an atmosphere to be honest. I was in the North stand on the 40 nearer to the East Stand and couldn't hear the West stand more than two or three times with the slow build up to Oh when the Saints. Obviously there are mitigating factors, such as the opposition, the lack of familiarity and the cold but in general the fans need to do more. Whenever it got tight at KR the fans would give the team a lift and I'm sure there were a few games where the crowd pulled the players through and influenced the referee. I'm not convinced there will be enough noise at Langree for that. I suppose the acid test for atmosphere will come when we first sell out the East Stand to noisy away fans, so presumably that will be Wigan.
The blokes behind us were discussing just this at the Salford game. One of them had the theory that the noisy teens in the 'scaff' in the glory period in the 90s are now getting on into their 30s and no longer make any noise.

Yes. We don't want to show up the fans of little clubs. We're nice like that.

I thought I was still *drunk* from last night when I read this!
This is coming from a fan of a club tha also has a brand new stadium in which they got 5000 fans at the opening of the stadium.
This coming from a fan who's team got best by a poor cas team on the opening night of their new stadium.
This coming from a club that booed their players off in the first ever game at their new stadium in a defeat to a debt ridden club like Leigh.
This coming from a team that also lost at their new stadium to Wigan..
Have you won there yet?
Listen pal, you've got much bigger problems than the atmosphere at Langtree park.

| I thought the sound carried well compared to KR, which trapped it in each stand.
