Quote: GarswoodSaint "Very much an outside chance, but wire have 3 difficult games ( Catalan (a), Wigan (h), Hull FC (a) ) with all the injuries it looks like they suffered at the weekend they could be under strength in france, and its a hard enough place to go as it is, they lose that theyve got wigan... and then hull away could be a dangerous game as hull may have to win to get in the playoffs and have some decent players , very much wishful thinking, but if we can beat Hull KR, Salford and Quins we may not be far off come the 10th of september, thoughts ?'"

Indeed very much wishful thinking.

Won the last 7 in the league, we have lost 5 all season your asking alot for us to lose 3 on the spin.

Quote: EHW "to get to the GF we will have to

as i ve said on previous threads, it only takes a few injuries, as we know.
we may be lucky and have a full team ready for the playoffs (perry excepted) and the pies and wires get a few key players out for the rest of the season and then it s game on.
i wouldnt even write off leeds chances of a GF appearance either. as some one famously said " its a funny old game"

But there is no advantage to Saints to come second instead of third. We don't have a 'home' ground anyway so what's the difference?

I'd like to say fans but we don't get Many of them turning up now, Warrington could probably bring 5000

I've been harping on about this run in for some time. But I think Wigan getting to the CC has put the kybosh on it. Also Catalan being pants last week reduces the odds further still.

Either way 2nd or 3rd we are going to be playing wire 2 times in the playoffs ( more than likely). Whether it's at home or away it's the same thing 80 minutes on a piece of grass.

I can't see Wigan optin for either Warrington or Saints, same goes for Wire if they nab top. There is no combination left that allows Saints to avoid Wigan or Wire in the final playoff game for old trafford.

So we know the challenge that lies before us the question is can we rise to it.

Personally i still think we should have taken Wigan in the semi last year. Wigan in a semi, at Saints would have been easier than Wigan in a final at OT.

Quote: Offside Monkey "Wigan have got the wood on us, I'm afraid. '"

Same could have been said about us with Leeds but which season was it when we did the double on them in the league, beat them in the play offs but lost to them at the Grand Final?

I think it's a bit premature to say that Wigan have the 'wood' on us.

What a pathetic patronising post. It seems the all mighty Wigan only need to turn up and they win.

You've won nothing yet this year either so I'd be careful what crap you spout.

I'm amazed at how big headed SOME Wigan fans have become since you've won the super league last year.

COME ON LEEDS!

Jeez you can not say anything on here. Calm down mate, go have a glass of water, maybe a paracetamol, and stay away from the computer for a bit.

After the way you played against us on good friday and also in the semi I really do think saints have what it takes to get to the grand final this year.

If you can keep pryce fit your going to go close. I fancy a repeat of Wigan Saints in the final. I think wigan will finish 1st and wire 2nd. Wigan will then beat hudds and saints will beat wire. Wire will then have a tough game against leeds and get beat in a close game and huddersfield will beat catalan at home. Wigan will then play huddersfield and beat them and saints will beat leeds.

See, it's doable icon_wink.gif

Stupid post, Saints have the ability to beat anyone in SL with a full strength side, as proven when they pushed us all the way in the semi and I also felt they were the better team for large periods when they played Wire away, if Pryce would have played that night I think Saints would have held that lead and beat them.

Very true. This has also been said in the press by Wello, so the players also think playing away in the play-offs is not as much of an issue this year due to the Widnes situation & their attitude to home advantage is the one that really matters.

Really? Because they haven't beat us or Wire this season.

No we ain't beat you or the wolves yet this year but the way the play off system works we might only have to beat you both once each to be crowned champs
