| Quote: Eastbourne Warrior "Every player will have tension in their face whether attacking or defending as they are putting a great deal of effort into playing the game. What is clear is MM didn't move his head towards Wellens in the way Graham did on Slater for example. MM may have taken the opportunity as Wellens put his arm in Micky's face. I don't know. All I said is neither the freeze frames or the video clips are conclusive. You have obviously made your mind up I'll wait for if there is a charge from the disciplinary before I make up mine. If he did he deserves a ban. If he didn't I assume he'll get an apology from you?'"
Well, of course. Everybody knows that the disciplinary committee are infallible.

The disciplinary will be unable to draw any conclusions based on the video just like any other objective person. What it boils down to is whether Wellens has any evidence to back up his claim. He he does then MM will be charged and deservedly banned. If he doesn't then he won't.

| Just watched the incident, and I think he has bitten Wello. It's the kind of behaviour you expect from McIlorum these days unfortunately, hopefully a long ban is on it's way! For the Wigan fans questioning Wellens' professionalism, throwing the odd paddy is hardly comparable to biting another player. Wellens isn't really going to make up that he's been bitten, and the pictures show that he was.

Whilst that is true, I think we all know he bit him. Unfortunately, just like kicking him whilst on the floor at the dw, the cameras won't be conclusive.
Question for the Wigan fans - do they REALLY think someone like Paul Wellens would say a fellow pro bit him if they didn't?

I can't speak for others but No I don't. I think that at the time Wellens thought he was. Wellness was however pushing his arm into MM's face, effectively into his mouth. From the video There was no obvious biting action from MM. If he did indeed 'clamp down' I'm sure he would have left a mark for the ref to see and include in his report.
It is also very possible that Wellens felt MM's teeth as he was shoving his arm into his mouth and therefore felt as though he was bitten even though he wasn't. I can understand most St Helens fans thinking that would be nonsense, particularly as people love to hate MM but it is feasible.
As I said before I honestly can't draw any conclusion from the evidence and will wait for the disciplinary rather than making the conclusion that I would prefer.

| Wellens sticks his arm into MM's face/mouth. When he gets up he reacts as though he thinks he has been bitten but then immediately gets on with the game. Now if he really thought that he had been bitten then winging Wello would have been straight in the refs face complaining. He didn't which indicates to me that this is all a storm in a tea cup.

Very briefly. He whinges at the ref all the time over nothing. I am pretty sure that he would have kicked off big style if he had been genuinely bitten.

Not when he's required to play the ball. Of course why let your bias for defending MM and dislike of wellens get in the way of logic.
He complained, it's gotten raised at a later date and is now getting looked at in further - but because he didn't take a swing at mm and give a penalty away it isn't of happened?

Wello wouldn't lie or claim it was a bite if he didn't think it. Wello is as honest as they come.

I agree with this completely.
I don't think wello would make the allegation if he didn't think he took a bite but it's also possible that wello mistaken it for a bite as he's pulsing his forearm in to MM face/mouth.

I don't have a bias for MM or a dislike for Wellens but I am applying logic. Has Wellens actually put in a formal complaint? Who is actually looking at it other than Saints fans desperately trying to find reasons for the defeat?

I would put good money in there being no quote in this thread about mm biting wellens being the reason we lost. There are plenty of reasons, in plenty of other threads, but it don't think anyone's suggesting it lost us the game!
That however, doesn't excuse any player biting in whatever circumstance it happens to be. This isn't a straw clutch, it's a desire to see foul play punished. Tbh knowing this board as I do, there'd be an equally long thread, saying pretty much the same thing if it were the other way around.
We have no idea whether an official complaint was made until Tuesday when the disciplinary is announced (or whenever it is over Easter)
The simple logic is, there are plenty of ways to milk a penalty from a modern game, without claiming foul play. Wellens is clearly seen complaining after the tackle is affected, and evidence, circumstantially at least, suggests MM's teeth and wellens arm came into contact.
