Fairly irrellevant, in that any deal would surely have a superleague clause in it. Relavant in the fact that it will mean a transfer fee would be in order.

But Leigh would still be entitled to a transfer fee. So if it were Brierley then it would have made more sense to sign him before he signed for Leigh.

You cant possibly know that. He may have a clause that allows him to leave for nothing to a SL side if he chooses. He may have turned down Cas because he didnt want to travel or relocate and the contract extension could be to keep him out of the hands of another team in the same division. I am of course speculating but thats all any of us can do
