I'm just repeating what Wire fans were saying at the beginning of the year about our squad on the slide, assembled on the cheap.

| Even Warringtons best young player is a Widnes lad. Their captain is from Salford , their key-playmaker is from St Helens I could go through the whole team but its too boring. Warringtons youth system...what youth system?

| TBF the live cap prevents any clubs declared wages from exceeding the cap. Therefore if the OP is right any investigation would be regarding undeclared payments. IF this were the case there is no way it would be made public unless the investigation was complete and they were found guilty. I would be reasonably confident that this is just speculation made over a few pints.
It is however refreshing and entertaining that these allegations are no longer being made in our direction.

| just had a look at the starting 13
from what I can see only 2 home grown in the 1st 13 (riley and harrison) - all the rest have been signed from other clubs
Cooper and McCarthy on the bench

He has played academy rugby for saints so hence is from the St Helens based production line whether he trained with Dire when he was in his youth is irrelevant. 5 more Warrington produced players who have played in your first team? Go on then enlighten me Mr Big man.'"
To my recollection Emmitt played u18's with Warrington's Academy. He then sat out the last year of his contract and played rugby union at Lymn. He may have then gone to play at Blackbrook whilst waiting for clearance to sign for Saints. Of course my memory may be wrong and you are right.
5 more Warrington produced players to play first grade:
Tyrone McCarthy
Matty Blythe
Alex Thompson
Rhys Williams
Adam Neal
There you go: enlightened.

You are right, it isn't perfect at the moment, the first team isn't made up of many of our youth team products. Hopefully now that the other aspects of the club seen to be heading in the right direction, the youth production line will also improve.
As for the salary cap, I'm bored of hearing supporters of other clubs banging on about our finances, when the truth is that none of us know. It is especially boring when the allegations come from fans of those clubs that have breached the rules in the past.

Neal, Thompson when the hell have these two played first grade? Never heard of em. Blythe is out in the wilderness at Leigh and Williams and McCarthy i give you although they've hardly made an impression. Read my original post i included Saints players who have actually played first team for Saints on numerous occassions now. I could include Bradbury, Ellis, Yates, Johnson, Magennis, Gaskell etc from the U-20's on your criteria due to the fact there all in the first team squad but decisevely haven't yet played first grade..actually Ellis played last year but hardly qualifies in the criteria due to lack of gametime.

Mind you he also said in the same programme that Saints would play their fist game at their new stadium at the beginning of June 2011.'"
He's not going to come out and say "Nah, we're only spending £1.1m mate, we're spending the rest on the furniture for my office in the new ground" are they?
The fans might revolt.

Just to clarify: Warrington players who have actually played first grade don't count whilst Saints players who haven't played first grade do count. An interesting concept and one that I may suggest tends to sway the stats in your favour.

Oh dear
They are all played first team rugby for Wire.

| Another thing that doesn't really work is this thinking that just because they come from the U17s or whatever to the first team that even though players are very good they won't be on top money.
Maybe someone forgot to tell Melbourne Storm's players that came through the set up and from the Norths Devils that they shouldn't be earning top wage.

Isn't that hobby horse worn out yet Rogues? Anyway, when will Wigan be playing their first game at [itheir [/iground.

| Quote: inside_man "Absolutely i'm not saying amateur clubs don't play a massive part, they just weren't relevant to the point we were making here.
The main thing with wire is that they've fought to get a lot of there players,
King - SOO and Aus player, coming from melbourne (we know they pay well! lol)
Morley - Can't remember but I assume that Wire can't have been the only bid for him
Myler - Salford were going to make him there highest paid player
Atkins - was a big player at Wakefield and I imagine they wanted to keep him aroundBut at the same time theres a few players who came with a point to prove and on not much money, like Higham and Mathers, and possibly Solamona as well. Hogson I can't see being on a massive chunk, he seemed more eager for the 2 years.'"
Could it be beyond the realm of possibility that these 2 players joined us for maybe a fraction more of what they were on at their previous clubs but saw a chance to challenge for medals, trophies etc???

| What i find laughable is the fact nobody cares about us as stated earlier but there are plenty of Saints fans on here who are getting very hot under the collar at this topic, if we were scraping the top 8 this discussion would not be happening
