I've wanted shut of Smith for about 2 years now, he can have very good games but the truth of the matter is that he's limited in what he can do, and he isn't even consistent to back that up.

For every off the cuff 40/20 like last week he kicks, he'll go early on the 3rd tackle and find the opposition fullback with an astounding level of accuracy!

I'll say this for him though, if you're level with a team with 10 minutes to go, he'll win you the game with a drop goal. Never seen a player as good at them at Wigan.

That's the big news I've been waiting for, I'm off to Renew my season ticket and pre order new saints top with Lee on the back

Now that is a truly awful signing, Smith is a first string SL halfback by any sensible measure, but Tommy Lee...well he certainly has a great future behind him!
Don't know what is going on at Saints, but it seems like for every sensible signing there has to be a Jack Owens type player signed, someone not good enough for a smaller club!

If these were signings for the first team then I'd be worried, but they are simply cheap backup players for when we suffer the inevitable injuries. A full strength saints team doesn't have the likes of Owens and Lee near it.

These useless players are blocking the advancement of the younger players coming through the system.

I'm sure he wouldn't sign cheap backup players for positions that had quality coming through from the youth ranks, right now. KC has brought players in from the youth team.

Were currently 5 in 12 out, basic maths suggests the kids will get more of a chance!

Of course we might suggest that the wrong kids are getting a chance, but thats a whole other discussion!

Just to play devil's advocate because no one else seems to be bothered.

Tommy Lee was made captain at Crusaders by Brian Noble and captain at Salford by Tim Sheens. He has now been bought by Kieran Cunniham.

Might I suggest that those three know a little bit about both leadership and playing hooker? He has been signed to give James Roby a breather not to build your team around. He may turn out to be a decent buy.

Agree here. Ive always seen lee as solid and dependable. Wouldnt be surprised through the seaon to see Saints fans saying what a surprise etc. To be fair his signing gives them a proven super league player to properly spell Roby in my eyes rather than putting people like Knowles in there
