Quote: SaintsFan "About what? St Helens Council funding the building of our stadium? No, he isn't. He is entirely incorrect. They did not fund any part of our stadium. About the Billinge tax payers funding our stadium, as you apparently asserted? No, he isn't. He is entirely incorrect and so were you. The money used to cleanse the site and provide infrastructure was taken out of the capital budget, not the revenue budget, therefore Council tax was not touched.

He knows all of this. He has seen discussions about it before. He is just stirring things up to derail the thread.

Oh look. He's derailed the thread.

now who's being pedantic? and where does the capital budget come from?

Investments, central government, etc.

That is, NOT the local taxpayer.

I'm far from being pedantic. The difference is significant.

It is still not what I understand, perhaps all the true facts & documents need to be clearly made public, that is If St Helens Town FC are not going to be allowed to use the Stadium, and I am not being pedantic, a stadium should be used as much as possible! school finals, amateur finals, that is why Widnes Owner and Halton Council are going for the plastic pitch which I am sure a lot of other clubs will study!

I accept St Helens RLFC must always have first call if it is a Super League or Cup match!

Why? lock a thread when serious questions are being asked about the use of the stadium? not allowing the use of the stadium by St Helens Town FC, yes some are saying that No funding from any source has been given for the building etc and that is why Saints have the right to ban or stop the stadium being used for St Helens FC, all I am asking for is to see the evidence that No Funding was obtained at all which SaintsFan seems confident about. why stop truth being revealed?

The question that needs to be asked is, should the name St Helens on the stadium have a full stop after the St?

YOU asked a serious question, yes, but you were pretty much the only one.

Just go take a look at the archives of the St Helens Star. It's a lefty paper so it's perfectly safe. In there the beloved Rimmer herself states clearly that the money contributed to the cleansing and infrastructure works of the former UGB site was paid for from the capital budget, which is not sourced from Council tax payments.

Just take a look at the plans for the stadium before planning permission was approved and you will find all the detail you want, all the proof. You won't find anything at the NWDA site though as it was abolished just after it had handed over four million squid to the Saints project.

Contact Mike Appleton, media guy at the Saints. He will love you to death for asking who funded the stadium. In fact, if you look back in the news section on the Saints website you will see a recent article by McManus talking about the most recent arrangements for funding.

There are any number of portals from which you can find all the proof you need to support my statement concerning the funding but I'm not going to provide you with them. The onus is upon you to look since you doubt what I am saying.

Meanwhile, that's it for me. Utterly bored with this.

And I always thought that "income tax" which funds national governent spending was a Tax? - the Capital Budget monies do not just appear from thin air or car boot sales.

I just Hope that even though announcements have been made that consideration will be given to St Helens Town FC, even if only a reduced number of games this season.

It's you that always answers back that it comes from "Capital Budget" and not from council taxes, as if it's a magic funding source, sorry if you think that is being flippant!
