| I'm on the fence with him (as I've mentioned just in the other thread).
He is a HB and that is something we currently need, so I'm all for giving him a good run in the team as he has shown that he can pass the ball and can kick (things that Ashe cannot do).
Made too many errors today though, mostly unforced and his fault. Maybe it was rust but that cannot be excused by only training with us for a week.

Hypothetical comparison anyway, where would they find three wise men and a virgin in StHelens?

| Pleasantly surprised by his defence considering there's nothing of him. Despite a few errors, he looks good to me.

| Far too lighyweight and slow. We need a 6 with a running game outside Walsh. O Brien is not our man IMO.

| He's done ok, he's not afraid to try stuff, gets hit taking the line on close and gets straight back up.
Maybe a little early to be thinking about next year, but for this year, I'd say if we could get him, then get him.
Next year depends who else is available.

Similar things were said about Matty Smith, we didn't appreciate his talent and let him go. Unfortunately Wigan are gonna reap the benefits of that mistake. I'm not bothered if the 6 & 7 have any pace. I think the half backs should be able to guide us round the pitch, pick the right pass, make the right kick...let the other lads be the 'runners'. That's just my opinion anyway...which means nowt.

| Is anyone else worried that Adam Swift is going to go to waste?
The clubs persistance with the likes of Wellens and Gardner seems to be hampering him more than others.

Yep , If we sign those 2 on for next year It will seriously hold him back imo. He is at an age where he needs to be playing games.

Depends how reliable Swift is though. I'm sure I read somewhere he's a qualified aerospace engineer so if a chance comes along I can't see him turning that down (and I wouldn't blame him).

A lot of people see real potential in Swift. If they're right, he may as well give it his best shot, knowing that he has engineering to take up when he's done.

I think he is potentially a good winger and hope he sticks around but if the chance comes for him to take up something he can do for life probably for similar money I just can't see him sticking around. Hopefully i'm wrong.

He doesnt look slow to me and as for lightweight he is a halfback not a prop . There is an obsession in the modern game that every player should be built like a tank, there's more than one way to score tries as we have proved over the years - barging over the top of people is just the most obvious and blunt way. Having players with footwork and craft is what we need at club and international level. Percival is not the biggest but he has outstanding footwork as has Lomax

What has this got to do with O'Brien?
