Have you been to the year 2500 before? Are we any good then? Has rugby league finally taken over the world with 5 highly competitive leagues in each and everyone of the worlds countries.

[quote="Steve":1xb0p6sn] Dislike Leigh with a passion, but they are a million miles ahead of any other club in this league, a sad fact. [/quote:1xb0p6sn]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_24148.jpg |

As much as i'd love Hilly to stay at Leigh he will be a revelation in SL with full-time training. Its obvious he is going to go to SL eventually so I'd rather he went to a team like saints that I like than a team like w*gan. He's only 22 and he's been carrying our pack since he was about 17. He's also very mobile for a forward and has a decent burst of speed once he's broken the line (which he does often!)

| I'd like to replace Flanders with a back row who offers more penetration just wide of the ruck, a la Clint Newton (not that he's likely to be signing) or Joel Tomkins (or him, for that matter).

Someone like, dare I say it, Lee Gilmour?

| Chris Hill should have been playing SL 3 years ago, whether he could adjust to the top level of SL now though is another matter - I'd have taken a punt on him sooner with a view to bringing him in gradually but even now we could do a lot worse. I would say he's the most attainable of all the young British props out there for next season, apart from maybe Paul Johnson (assuming Wakey don't get a franchise) but despite his good performances this year he obviously wasn't rated highly enough in the first place.
I've resigned myself to Graham leaving, surely he would have signed by now? As a result we must keep TP - Perry, Puletua, LMS, Clough and another prop plus a youngster knocking on the door is a minimum requirement IMO. Pryce will be off too, anyone would miss a player of his calibre but I think Hohaia's signing speaks volumes and it's hard to justify giving him another big contract when the team is playing extremely well without him.
We don't have a single player in the back row contracted beyond 2012 and this is somewhere I would like to see us pick up a top line player in the next 12-18 months. I'd say Flannery is the best of our lot so far this season but is he worth the quota place? Hopefully Sia can get a good run of games together and really kick on, he looks to be the only one with a real physical presence on our edge and it's something we need more of. The young home-grown back-rowers, well none of them are really standing out whilst not being poor and we need more from them going forward - Wigan have a boat-load of young forwards who look much better than ours it has to be said. A big 12-18 months for all of them.
That leaves Gardner and Frodsham up in 2011 and I'd be very surprised if either are regular players in our team this time next year.

| If Chris Hill is being looked at seriously to cover the prop role, then maybe the overseas forward that we're looking at is a replacement for Flannery? Hopefully it'll be a strong running / penetrative back rower. A back row of Wilkin, Soliola and AN Other would cause alot of problems.

| With Eastmond, Graham and Puletua all going (and possibly Pryce) that surely means a real marquee signing will be made to herald the new era of St Helens rugby in their new home.
Hohaia is a good signing but not a "marquee" player. I'd imagine a player from the NRL but hard to see who.

McManus considers Lance a marquee signing and has explicitly stated such. That's not to say I agree particularly.
To be honest, with the new salary cap due to arrive in the NRL, I'd argue Lance is probably about as close to marquee as SL will get in the next few years.

| Are the Tony P to Wire rumours based on anything other than the fact that they're linked with pretty much anyone?
Let's face it, they must be running the cap close and another 30 something isn't exactly going to help their longevity as a top 4 club.

I say that would be the reason. Jammer was going there last season wasn't he?

no, but realistically, players resigning for their current clubs is usually well done by now
