Hope Walsh is OK.
From behind the sticks it looked as though Walsh and Amor had collided. Both ended up on the ground with Walsh staying down.
Enjoyed it and it was a "trial" game to me more than a friendly or warm up game.
There was little friendly about it and no one seemed to be warming up.
I thought Wigan started slower than Saints probably due to the previous week when Saints played and Wigan didn't.
Both sides will be looking at their penalty count against as with that number it would be difficult to win any SL game.
A good tight game - 16-18 with 7 mins to go.
Really looking forward to the season now.
BTW anyone know the crowd on last night?

he realized that the ball had gone, that is not even close to being a shoulder charge. he's arms where up but realized the ball had gone hence the reason he looks behind him as soon as it happens.

He clearly is looking for a big hit walsh sees that draws him and passes it but flower can't disappear. Its less than a second late and it was hardly dirty no matter how bias you can be against Wigan or what ever previous Wigan have.

I'm not saying its late, and of course he doesnt have time to stop but hes not trying to make a tackle, its a shoulder charge pure and simple.

seriously thats not a shoulder charge and of course he is trying to make a tackle but realize the ball has gone and pulls out of it its just a collision. You would have to be soft to call foul play for that.

A shoulder charge is where a player makes no attempt with his arms and turns the shoulder into the tackle with his arms down by the side. You will see that kind of collision at least once a game.

i would be more upset if i didn't see it as players wouldn't be committing to tackles. Even the most die hard saints fan must thats not foul play.

It's hard to see where contact was on that video. It's whether the injury was a result of Flower's tackle (Walsh hurt his jaw so it would be then a high tackle) or the collision with Amor.

Either way I wouldn't say it was late.

Definitely not a late tackle but if it's that contact which has led to a facial injury it's a high tackle without use of the arms. I wouldn't class it as intentional but I would say it's dangerous and reckless. Flower could be looking at a couple of games but the angle is inconclusive as to the origin of the contact.

looks like the coaches attitude is rubbing off on some off the fans. Seriously not sure ho you can complain about that its hardly like its intentional, its not late and its not a shoulder charge. somebody find out which side of his face hurts and you will know if its from flower or Amor.

From that clip, I would not say it's not late, when you pause just before contact, the ball is leaving his hands as the player goes in.

Amor has not cracked his face as when Flower hits Walsh, Amor is already below shoulder height.

However, it is a shoulder charge. There are no arms out for a tackle. He does not make any tackle hence why Walsh is sent spinning to the ground. And it's not a shoulder charge that's below head height.

It's a tackle that should have been penalized under today's rules. You have to have the arms around the player nowa days. Leaning in shoulder first is never going to work..

Not sure whether they will sight him off that evidence or not, but it's fairly clear. But given it was a friendly and if Walsh escapes with just a bruise I imagine it will be ignored.

That one wasn't late, but it definitely wasn't a "traditional" tackle, can't really tell what Flower was trying (other than to bruise Walsh) but as he sees the ball go he effectively turns it into a shoulder charge whilst abandoning the tackle. Seems pretty clear cut that it was a reckless challenge to me, though certainly not late.

FWIW, from pausing it looks to me like Flower catches his jaw with the front (rather than point) of his shoulder which probably saved Walsh from his jaw breaking. Walsh was stooping to make the pass, Amor had already fallen before contact was made due to the presence of Pettybourne hence the fallout, but the initial contact from Flower was definitely the cause of the damage. Hope Walsh is ok.
