Quote: Saint Red "I can't bear posts like that.'"

I can't bear the similar muppetry on the Wigan board at times, idiots saying prior to the Bradford game that we were going to go unbeaten all season, as if we had assembled an all star team from the 80s and 90s rather than a side that was mediocre last season until the play-offs and had lots of players who were unfit or playing way below potential.

Mind you, you all would have had a laugh at the Wigan fans responsible and we too can chortle at your over-excited fans, so there is at least some amusement value.

The reality is that this is going to be a tough game for Saints - the play-off game last season was close and we are significantly better now than we were then.

On the positive side for you, everyone connected with Saints will be desperate to win this game, the last derby at KR is going to be like a cup final in terms of atmosphere. Wire founded out how dangerous a team with wounded pride can be and if your players gave 100% to defeat the Wire wannabes I'm sure they will find a few extra % from somewhere to take on their true rivals.

As for us, I'm sure every Wigan player will want to win the game. SW in particular will have them fired up for this one. Should be an absolute cracker of a game, which is what the fixture - the one thing we can agree on is that, with the greatest of respect to our friends in Hull, our derby is the greatest fixture in RL - and the famous old ground deserve. Bring it on!

I'll continue this unlikely love-in by saying that I'll miss KR. I don't envy what you will have to go through at the end of this season. The last game at CP was a very sad day. I know many of you will claim it will be different for you because your new stadium will be "yours" and we were moving to a shared stadium, and perhaps it will to some extent, but it wasn't so much where we were going but what we were leaving behind that was really the sad part. Leaving a ground with so many memories and so much history to move to a modern, soulless stadium is difficult, particularly when the recent history was so glorious. Its going to be a very sad season for you, but at least your players seem up for giving the old ground a good send off.

I actually feel very sorry for Paul Wellens. It must be devastating for a local lad who has given his all for Saints to miss the last league game against the old enemy.
Your local lads in the team will want a victory in this game more than any other this season, because they know how much it means to them and your supporters.
Obviously being a Wigan fan I want us to win (bragging rites forever) but a bit of the old softie in me wouldn't begrudge Saints this one win.

If he is missing the last one I hope he is fit for the first one at the new ground as that is important too.

TBH I don't think this will be the last Saints Wigan clash at KR I can see a play off or a cup game being played as well.

I'll be gutted to see the end of KR. It's a piece of history, even with it's leaks, unsafe terracing and roofless toilets.

Obviously excited about the new stadium, it's essential for the club to progress. But when standing at KR visualising some of the truly magical moments you've witnessed there, is one of life's greatest joys. I'll blub like a baby when they finally close the doors on the old girl.

I hope so but I just can't see it. I'm not sure I could take another knock-out game at your place as well. I will really miss KR, it has unique atmosphere for us Wigan fans. As well as it having a nice low roof with a proper terrace for away fans, we have had some of the biggest highs and some of the lowest of lows behind those shabby old posts. We have had some great moments, like coming from behind with Luke Robison and many more.... going from that to losing 75-0, it really does hit home how bad times were! Besides Wigan and Saints being two of the best and biggest clubs in the game, I don't think that it what makes this the best derby, but something special happens when the two teams take to the field, you can always be sure something entertaining will happen when boths teams take to the field.

I love the banter but also the respect between our two clubs. I hate saints but would be gutted if they were to ever go down.

I will miss KR alot when it's gone but lets hope the last derby there gives it the send off it well and truely deserves. The best game of the super league season with the biggest atmosphere!

The move to the new stadium will be great for your club and it will increase your support and income which is great for RL, it's great to see so many fans happy with the move as this was not the case with us and CP. I have mixed emotions though, as while I will miss KR, I also can't wait to see the 2 teams take to the field in the new stadium for a new era of epic encounters!

No other derby in any sport will ever be the same as this derby clash, it is unique in so many ways and lets hope thats the way it stays!

Can't wait for good friday! May the best team win, and lets hope for a great game. Tomkins to score the last try icon_wink.gif
