| Quote: Wire_85 "Yet we ran your highly touted youth teams very close at the weekend.
Hopefully we can keep them instead of Wigan and Saints nicking them at 14 and 15 like Jake Emmitt and Andrew Dixon
Our U20s have a few players who look likely to make the step up.'"
Can't speak for anythin other than our U20's, but the team from last year has been broken up completely due to the amount of players out on dual-contracts, something like 12 players at last count, which in turn has meant players from the ages below have had to step up etc.

| Bearing in mind Saints incompetence at basic financial forecasting and planning. I would wager it is a simple case of Warrington having more competent people in charge of the running of the fiscal side of things.
Is this the third year on the bounce that 'Warrington MUST be cheating the cap'?

| All it seems to me is that Morans money also employs better people 'behind the scenes'.
A thoroughly professional club on and off the field.

Which is better for them I think then playing U20 level rugby
A few of our U20s are 17 years old.

I don't think you must be cheating the cap because you appear to be level on points with a penny pinching Saints squad hammered by injury all season.
If you are cheating the cap you're not doing it very well.

Maybe Saints should teach us how it's done

You may have a point there. If we are currently comparable with Saints in the league, who are proven at breaking the cap, then it is as good as proven.

Absolutely its better for them to be out on DC, I was just making the point that other teams seem to think there juniors are better than ours because of results. I was just pointing out that we are weakened in that area by letting the players play in a more competitive environment.

| Quote: Paul Youane "Emmit? Is that the product of Warrington's academy system we're talking about?
This just about sums up the knowledge of the game in general. You also missed out another 5 Warrington produced players in our first team squad but they probably don't qualify under your assessment criteria. I mean what's a Challenge Cup winners medal matter.
At the end of the day Warrington have never been found guilty of breaching the salary cap for a very good reason
Emmitt was signed from Blackbrook. He has played academy rugby for saints so hence is from the St Helens based production line whether he trained with Dire when he was in his youth is irrelevant. 5 more Warrington produced players who have played in your first team? Go on then enlighten me Mr Big man.

That penny pinching Saints squad that your own CEO said was spending up to the salary cap limit on a recent Radio Manchester Thursday night programme?
Mind you he also said in the same programme that Saints would play their fist game at their new stadium at the beginning of June 2011.

I'm just repeating what Wire fans were saying at the beginning of the year about our squad on the slide, assembled on the cheap.

| Even Warringtons best young player is a Widnes lad. Their captain is from Salford , their key-playmaker is from St Helens I could go through the whole team but its too boring. Warringtons youth system...what youth system?

| TBF the live cap prevents any clubs declared wages from exceeding the cap. Therefore if the OP is right any investigation would be regarding undeclared payments. IF this were the case there is no way it would be made public unless the investigation was complete and they were found guilty. I would be reasonably confident that this is just speculation made over a few pints.
It is however refreshing and entertaining that these allegations are no longer being made in our direction.

| just had a look at the starting 13
from what I can see only 2 home grown in the 1st 13 (riley and harrison) - all the rest have been signed from other clubs
Cooper and McCarthy on the bench

To my recollection Emmitt played u18's with Warrington's Academy. He then sat out the last year of his contract and played rugby union at Lymn. He may have then gone to play at Blackbrook whilst waiting for clearance to sign for Saints. Of course my memory may be wrong and you are right.
5 more Warrington produced players to play first grade:
Tyrone McCarthy
Matty Blythe
Alex Thompson
Rhys Williams
Adam Neal
There you go: enlightened.
