I think last seasons Under 14's have suffered from playing numbers in St.Helens. I'm sure there's only Brook, Clock Face and Portico in St.Helens at that age group. I think of those 3 only Brook had a full squad. Thatto Heath folded early in the season. Plus, there are some St.Helens based players at 'border' teams like Orrell etc. So I guess thats why the scholarships are lobsided in Brook's favour. I'm not sure which other clubs have players selected for scholarships at that age group at the moment. I've heard Orrell have a few and I don't think Clock or Portico have any as yet. Although, I've heard all the places haven't been given yet.

Bold have players on scholarships for alot of teams! 4 are at Wigan, 3 at Warrington, 4 Saints and 2 Widnes are ones I can think off the top of my head!

I think what jts was alluding to was that it seems that you have more of a chance of being given a Saints scholarship if you play for Blackbrook than if you play for Bold.

It used to be the same with St. Pats at Wigan.

To all those connected with Bold, if there are any more Liam Carberrys down there that Saints don't want, just send then to Wigan.

I only watched the Wigan/Saints game. I personally thought TW at full back was man of the match. It seems they all enjoy it and like the set up.

Who was the Saints fullback in that game, I thought he was their standout player.

It's a real shame that there is still this fixation with Blackbrook. It seems to be the case that you need to be extra special to get a scholarship if you're at any other club.

There are some decent kids playing for other St Helens clubs in next seasons U 15's that have been overlooked by saints who could end up snapped up by the likes of Wigan, Warrington, Widnes etc. just because they dont play for Brook.

A lot of the lads coming through now have come from IRB, Bold and Orrell St. James, as you will probably read in the next week or so.

If you look at the Saints under15s team from this year there are only 3 lads from Brook. One has been on a while, one recently has been put on and the 3rd has just signed from Clock! I can think of 3 at Brook, 4 Bold, 4 Crossfields, 2 Clock, 3 Orrell, 3 Thatto, 2 Saddleworth, 1 at Widnes St.Maries and one who plays union at Sale.
