| Quote Mugwump="Mugwump"I'd find the link to my prediction that Campese would be forever on the treatment table when the trailer park crowd from KR invaded here after their home victory - but they're too insignificant to bother investing time and energy.

So insignificant that you bother investing time and energy posting. Cannot you see the irony of your post?

| It's no wonder Campese was ALL SMILES when he signed an extension at Hull's lesser-known club.
My guess is he mumbled [i"Suckers!"[/i under his breath once he put pen to paper and limped out of the room.

| Quote St pete="St pete"We lost vea the week before the Souths game and percy shortly after. He's also been playing with different halves each week and a cheek bone break hasn't helped.
If you won't me to put it simply for you. First half the season he was very very good and kept us ticking over and was putting in top class passes brining our centres into the game which we hadn't seen in long time and was linking up great with Vea.
We've had lots of injuries and not had settled team and he's been injured plus he's not in the best of form, so Id say he's been average for past 6 weeks.
I look at it this way. We won our first 6/7 games and travis played a massive part in that. If you take those performances away and the fact we had no hslves at the time then I don't think we'd be sitting 2nd in the league at the moment.'"
Of course! That explains it all then. "We've had lots of injuries and not had settled team" could have been written about other teams and indeed HKR throughout the season until the last two weeks. Even when we beat the mighty Saints we had 7/8 players out. We can all trot out these reasons for our team or individuals not playing well. Burns is not the answer on a long term basis as an effective, consistently performing half back. He proved it in the NRL, he blew hot and cold whilst with us and is now doing the same with you. Once or even twice can be bad luck but the same deterioration in form at three clubs? You've only to read the forum to see that other Saint's posters are not too happy with him at the moment.

LOL. Yes, let's compare the two clubs' histories - with Hull KR's.

Are we talking super league history when the game went fully pro or we talking pre 95/96 when only one or two teams was fully pro?

| I don't get it, you ask a question, was burns worth the fee?
Were you expecting a different response, because the answer is simple, yes he was worth the fee.
He's not Tommy Martyn, but then who is???
He's a top notch competitor and has had some marvellous games for Saints. Please don't confuse the odd game on TV were you don't see him take on the line to equate with him being a player that was not worth putting some money out there to buy.
He's had his moments so far in the season, he's also had games were he has not had that touch of class, but classy or average he puts in 100% for the team. I'll take that any day. A player who puts in effort is never going to be put down at a club like Saints. Whether or not he is fast.
Players go through runs of form, at the moment Burns is on a bit of a average run of form. If he starts putting in those passes and cutting up teams in a few weeks, that's not going to make him a superstar, just because of a few good games. You have to see a player in the round and not just from game to game.
Was he worth the money. Damn Yes.

| Quote St pete="St pete"Are we talking super league history when the game went fully pro or we talking pre 95/96 when only one or two teams was fully pro?'"
Found my spreadsheet from the University of Leeds research papers, from the pre world war one era to present day involving championship, challenge cup and super league.
1 Wigan
2 St Helens
3 Leeds
4 Bradford
5 Warrington
6 Huddersfield
7 Hull
8 Widnes
9 Halifax
10 Hull KR
11 Oldham
12 Castleford
13 Swinton
14 Wakefield
15 Salford
Hull KR could in years to come, go to the dizzy heights of 9th place at the expense of Halifax. Wigan, St Helens and Leeds well ahead of the rest, would probably take about 6 years of Leeds or St Helens winning everything to catch up to Wigan.
