| Quote: Magic Superbeetle "Turner did everything asked of him - granted not much, but hardly a performance I'd call him out for - he kept wardle quiet which we haven't done for a while. Lms was good without being great, still room for improvement. Walker had a poor first stint, and I was prepared to start writing him off, but was poking his nose through in his second stint, and generally did alright.'"
It's strange how we all view the match differently.
I had Walker, Turner and LMS as our worst players. Turner in particular had quite a few brain farts and at times looked frightened to back himself.
My top 3 were Roby, Mose and Wello with Wilkin for an honourable mention. Greenwood impressed as well and contrary to other comments I thought Flanagan played well.

Roby, Mose, wello and Walsh were all immense for their contributions (in all it's forms) looking up the stats this morning, walker was our strongest youngster, averaging 7 metres a carry, compared to 5.7 for greenwood, 5.5 for Richards and 4.5 for Thompson. I agree I think he's the most limited potential wise, but he had a good game yesterday, after a shaky start.
I retract my statement on lms after seeing his stats, but turner was strong in defence (19 tackles made to 1 miss) he just needs to see the ball more - 1 carry every 10 minutes isn't enough. We didn't attack his way all night, so he could of gone looking for the ball. But like I say, it's hardly something to call him out for (unlike his constant throwing the pass to no one vs Warrington!)

His performance against Warrington may well be why we didn't attack his way all night.
I was disappointed by that but only for a silly reason. Makinson is now only one point ahead of the next in line in the top try scorer league and I want him to win!
So Saints, get sending that ball to T Mak!

tbh I think the big difference last night was the attitude and commitment shown by the players. I still wasnt really impressed with LMS and I think Wheeler is wasted in the centre's rather than in his natural position of 6.

I must confess, whilst not coming into consideration for my judgement on turners performance, I agree wholeheartedly about getting T Mak top try scorer - I care an undue amount about it!
When was the last time we were in with a shout for it?

God knows! Certainly not since I've been following Saints (from 2007).
Escare is now joint top with T Mak. I think we should start a campaign! T Mak for Top!

The days of sully, Albert and a young Ade Gardner was there or there abouts.

Remember when Danny Arnold was scoring for fun? That just showed how classy our centres were at the time that he notched so many tries. Stewart got a few too.

I decided to look at the stats, as it turns out, it was not all that long ago, with Gardner topping the 2008 charts with 25! Which is also our top tally for a single player since 2003 (the earliest the SL website stats to back, it's too late in the day to dig deeper) - held jointly by Gardner (200icon_cool.gif and albert (2005)
... I still want T Mak to push on and beat that tally

2006...I think Gardner finished joint top try scorer with Murphy...the lad at Catalans, not the fella out of Robocop.

Gidley put a lot of them on a plate for Ade. Just shows what a top centre can do. We've not had a top centre since that 1st Gidley season in 2008 I think it was.

That's depressing!
My mate is the same. I think he said his first match was the 2006 grand final.

That explains a lot, all those great players ending there careers whilst we head off into 6 years of transition.

Christ. Talk about downhill.
I was quite lucky. I started watching in '93, after Dux had been to the premiership final and was raving about Saints.
That meant I started watching as Eric Hughes took over - who never beat Wigan. A couple of years being denied success by your derby rivals meant 96 was sweet for me (sweeter for the longer term fans) and I've been privlaged to see some great times.
Not everyone who's worn the red vee in that time has been a world beater, but there have been plenty of squad men who (you'd like to think) would never roll over and have their belly tickled in the same manner as we've been seeing - Andy Northey, Chris Morley, Adam Fogerty, Jason Hooper, Nick Fozzard, Vila & Sonny, Bernard Dwyer and Brett Goldspink all spring to mind.
God, I used to think Foggy was e, but I'd have him back right now.
