| For me if lance stays then we are quota full in which case gob would be a good purchase on a 2 year deal. To. Compliment Walsh.

I don't think GOB is good enough and I also don't think they would be a good pairing. Non of them take the line on. Both have had criticism for not taking the Line on.
We need a running half to complement Walsh. Someone like Leon pryce would be great with him

What about putting wello to fullback (if he's staying) with lomax to 6 and Walsh at 7 ?
If wello is staying in the 17, the is only one position he can play. Lomax would be much better than he was in the halves playing with Walsh. Lomax wouldn't need to try and control and lead the team like He was with lance and Gaskell. He could play a similar role he plays at fullback where he drifts in bad out the game with Walsh leading the way moving us around the park.
Lomax suffered at 7 due to playing with inexperienced halves and was asked to ball handle. He's not a ball player, he's a runner and takes the line on. Don't get me wrong, lomax got good pair if hands and can ball handle if needed but he's a good partner for Walsh.
Just a idea, thoughts ?

If recruitment and retention follow and no 6 is brought in then fine, but it's still a bit of a sticking plaster and a step back regards Wellens to FB. It's probably the best use of resources given what you have said.

Makinson is a great player as a winger, but showed earlier in season he is better out there finishing tries (what he does best) than in the line trying to pass the ball. Twice this season (Hull KR away and Catalans at home IIRC) his poor decision making cost us in very good attacking positions and could have won had different options been taken. Leave him on the wing where he is best suited and most effective.
I actually agree with St Pete about Wellens, if we can't find a 6 for next year use Lomax there and play him at full back. He is slow as we all know but he is also safe there which has to be considered. Lomax is a more modern type full back but safe is one thing he isn't, in particular the Higham and Carvell tries from last night wouldn't have been scored with Wello at 1 imo

Exactly, he's shot, he has virtually none of his attributes that made him so great, retire with some grace, and as a legend

I agree. I don't think makinson showed that he has the ability and skill set to play FB.
Who plays 6 is going to be dependent upon how we want to play. If we are splitting the HBs then Wilkin might play a ball handling role and we play an extra forward. Not ideal but I think that would be the best option if we fail to bring in a 6.
I'd love wheeler to be given his shot, but that's unlikely to result in a long term selection and the likes of Charnock are too young yet.
