| The main issue for me is organisational...
Lomax isnt an organisational half back, more off the cuff, taking the line on is where he is better. Playing alongisde Gaskell, who also doesnt seem to have the ability to organise the team effectively is where we are coming up short. People have slated Hohaia as a half back, but off the ball he organises the line well when he is at 6.
Until Lomax or Gaskell can learn to organise an attacking line, them as a pairing will not work imo

Unfortunatley, whilst you may speculate that the quality of superleague has declined, there's not many teams that are going to be a pushover this year. Bradford have got some pretty good forwards in Scruton,Manufukoa (sp),Sidlow,Walker and Whitehead. It won't be an easy day out.

Why are we culpable for a player's performance levels dropping? Is it because we said something on an internet forum which you say he probably doesn't visit?'"
Maybe because he picks up on the booing and moaning 'the fans' give him when he makes a mistake? Duh

Just like Smith and soon to be Foster, when will you all learn? Absolute idiots, you have destroyed his confidence and it won't be long before you destroy Gaskells, Makinsons, Jones' etc. I don't agree he should play at scrum half at all but seriously the way some of you go around it is just plain childish and pathetic, hard to believe some of you are fully grown adults and i really doubt you are to be honest. Really think all these youth players are gonna wanna go for Saints if they are offered scholarships from the like of Wigan and Warrington? I know every team has a set of fans like most of the posters on here but at the end of the day teams like Wigan and their fans get behind the team and their players, wish are fans were like them.'"
That im afraid is totall rubbish!
Wigan fans wanted Richards out after a season, giving him stick when he made a clanger etc.... 2 years later he was MOS. Instead of these boards the club should put meetings on where we can discuss there tragic displays. Let the individuals explain why they cant be botherd taking on the line, when a family have paid more than £50 get in.

I don't understand the link between the video and your comment. For probably 75% of those clips he was either playing half-back or on the wing.
Unless you're being sarcastic and in which case you've made your point perfectly?

The support play on most of them try's is fantastic, on the shoulder support and shows bursts of speed. Them are Jonny's best bits. No great passing moves, no fantastic passing etc... He is a full back.

I see what you're saying about the support play, but that video isn't evidence of him being the "perfect full back," seeing as very few of the clips actually show him playing full back, that's my point.

| You might say the same about a lot of players "what's happened too"
Look at Roby in those clips - the one thing we can see on many of those is the opposition are on the back foot giving quick play-the-balls and quick movement, hence Roby being involved a lot. So in conclusion again it points to the pack for me not giving our flair players room to work.

| It is not just Lomax, I remember not long ago when Wheeler, Lomax, Ashurst ,Dixon, Magennis, Gaskell and Makinson oh yes we still had Eastmond at the time; I thought then the future looked very bright for the Saints. Four of those players are no longer with us and the other four have shown a great deal of promise. I still have a lot of faith in Lomax but I think his confidence is low at the present; with a few good performances from the saints pack he will bounce back. Wheeler is a real talent; if only he could avoid injury he would be one of the first names on the sheet. Makinson is a bit of an enigma to me, he certainly has pace but lacks the basic ability to beat an opponent. Gaskell is a player who shows good skills in some departments but at the present he lacks experience and/or a rugby brain, this manifests itself when he has the ball in hand and takes the wrong option on too many occasions. I feel this season could be the make or break for these players. If the Saints youth do not begin to take up the mantle we will become known as the Salford feeder club.

Ashe is another one. Not seen much of him and not been overly impressed when I've seen him.

If Salford want to take our 'not quite good enoughs' then let them. These lads deserve the chance to try there hand elsewhere.

47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| It's always tricky to create top class players.
When at Saints Smith was seen as not in the running when compared to Eastmond, Leon, Lomax.
But just 2 years down the line he was in high demand.
Very difficult to predict who will come good and who will not.
