| I thought all the saints forwards seemed a bit flat, only Amor and Richards seemed to have a real dig, Walmsley was quiet too.
The most worrying thing though if were a Saints fan is James Roby's form. He wasn't poor, but he just doesn't seem as enthused as he usually does.

Doing twice the number of tackles as the next highest at the club does that to a guy

He's already 170 tackles ahead of the next highest guy (Wilkin) though I don't think the gap has ever been that big.

| Masoe was awful today, absolutely no commitment at all. He's playing like the comedy fat guy at your work five a side.

I just don't see this. He's shown me nothing at all to prove he's a good prop. In my humble opinion he's lazy, unfit, doesn't run his weight and no aggression.
Not impressed with him at all sorry.

Our pack looks soft.
What we thought was our strongest asset looks our worst. The props are unfit and basically impact props, the back row is lightweight and slow.
On a whole, the pack lacks aggression.

We lack an interchange prop for Amor. Amor and walmsley compliment each other well, and look effective when on together. Masoe (whilst quickly becoming a scapegoat) is a decent interchange for walmsley, but we lack the talisman when Amor is off - there are 2 solutions, either Amor does much longer minutes (the James graham solution) or we have to bring in another prop who is as effective as Amor (we both agree that laffranchi shouldn't be replaced by youth and today's game proved it more than ever) - Richards (already) has his knockers, but he has impressed me, it's just were asking far too much of an 18 yr old prop.
Too many of our back rowers are skating by by being "solid defensively" (which none of them looked today) - lms had a better game today than in a while, but still offered little - he went from liability to anonymous. Either wellens plays from the off or not at all, bringing him on after 60 minutes is just a waste in a game like today. I'm a big fan of greenwood in general, but I've been less than convinced recently (though I'm told he played well at widnes, so I'll reserve criticism for a while yet.) Wilkin is well out of form. Jones as a 20 year old just physically can't match others yet and is better on the fringes (because he's a centre!!!!!!!). None of them can dent a defensive line. Same with Flanaghan. These are supposed to be the players running angles to confuse defences, and they just aren't, which is why were relying on individual or team brilliance (chuck it about and see what happens) to break defences down. Sometimes it comes off (castleford second half) sometimes it's a disaster (castleford first half).
Amor, Roby and soliola are exempt from criticism for me, walmsley is getting that way (if he were more consistent) - the rest need to think about what they bring to the team.

| Perhaps if Mose had support runners when he carried the ball in he'd have been more effective. It was far too easy to put 3 in the tackle against him, less so if he had an offload option.

| Never really rated LMS, I've always been of the opinion that if he wasn't from London he wouldn't be as rated as he is.
Richards seems a really top prospect to me. He makes some mistakes but he gets stuck in and he's a huge lad for 18. Reminds me of James Graham at that age.

I knew we had problems at prop before the season started. If you look thru my posts you'll find them. I stated at the time that Mose is a impact prop, walmsley is a impact prop, laffranchi is not a prop and Lms is lightweight. Only Amor has any work or Grunt in him.
I was told the team on Thursday and the first thing I thought, I'd put Richards starting and Alex on the bench. I was swap walmsley for Amor after 25 mins as IMO we need one of those two on the field at all times.
That would be the final straw for LMS if I was the coach. I know others was poor but some of his attempts at tackles was woeful. He's grabbing like a 7yr old kid that's not learned how to tackle. I can let the fact he's to small, not strong enough go but I can't let the lack of desire when attempting tackles go.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, mate. I was so excited when we signed this lad. I thought he'd bring that aggression and nastiness into our forwards that we'd badly lacked last season. So far though, he looks like he's on holiday, not working. We're carrying him, big time. He should be putting the fear of god into the oppositions minds when he comes off the bench but he's bread and butter for the opposition. Get Savelio in instead.

Walmsley isn't as effective imo when he isn't with Amor, which we saw at the start if the second half, didn't have much impact with Richards, and as soon as Amor comes on, we gain the front foot and walmsley looks like a world beater again. Richards will be able to do it is 5 years, imo, but he's not there yet (we talk about how young walmsley is for a prop at 24!)
Lms and Wilkin should share the 13 role, depending on the game for the rest of the year. Soliola can take the long minutes second row role with greenwood in the other starting role. Thompson/ Savelio/ Manu (when he's back) take the impact second row off the bench role. Lms and Wilkin will play better when they're competitive with each other at lock, greenwood deserves an extended run (despite being a little anonymous today) and soliola be "leader of the pack" as he plays a lot of minutes, and we keep some strike on the bench. If Wilkin is playing at lock I wouldn't put lms on the bench and vice versa, interchange with wellens (properly, not just after 60 minutes)

Exactly, I'd actually be happy to see him playing if I was the other team.
He's virtually dead with ball. I've never seen him make a one on one tackle (always 2nd or 3rd man), he's unfit most alarmingly he constantly runs back into the line with his back turned.
